Two individuals from Hampton Roads, employees of the Norfolk-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, were arrested Wednesday night in Ahoskie, N.C., on animal cruelty charges.

The two were arrested after authorities allege they dumped dead dogs and cats in a dumpster at a shopping center on Memorial Drive in Ahoskie.

Andrew Benjamin Cook, 24, of Virginia Beach, and Adria Joy Hinkle, 27, of Norfolk, were arrested at the shopping center. Police say they found 18 dead animals in the dumpster and 13 dead animals in the couple’s van, which according to authorities, is registered to PETA. Both suspects were charged with 31 counts of animal cruelty and eight counts of illegal disposal of animals. . . .

People for the ETHICAL Treatment of Animals?

Since when is it ethical to engage in ‘theft by deception’ which is the crime of telling someone you will take an animal and find it a home then do something else with it. There was a ring in this area that would respond to ‘Free to good home’ ads, take the animal and SELL it to a lab where it would be used for experiments. A number of animal WELFARE (as opposed to animal rights) exposed the ring and they were convicted of this charge. I hope they do the same for the PETAs

PETA hypocrisy? Say it ain’t so.

:tsktsk:
They are liberals. Hypocrisy (also known as Moral and Ethical relativism) is OK for them.

What a sweeping, baseless generalisation. I’ll make one too: Conservatives are mentally deficient and are quite happy to spend the whole day sticking berries up their noses.

If you I am going to be insulted, at least you did so with humor and class.

PS - You are correct about making over-generalizations.

This doesn’t surprise me. I live near one of the largest companies that raise animals for labs. They also raise some forms of exotic pets.
There have been a number of breakins by PETA & other ultra-extreme “animal rights” groups. The supposed animal “lovers” have turned the exotic pets out to freeze to death in subzero weather. They have also killed many of the animals intended for labs…or, again, turned them out to freeze or starve to death.
According to the pamphlets they left behind, one of their major goals is to do away not just with all lab use of animals, but also with all pet animals. They say having a pet is  “just as much animal exploitation as using them in laboratories”.
No, I am not kidding. They actually said that. The message was that “animals are better off dead than in the hands of humans”. (Something that, I suspect, the freezing, starving animals would have loved a chance to contest).

This is also what I have heard about PETA, so it doesn’t surprise me that they would kill “rescued” pets. The pets are not wild animals, and are dependant on humans, so if they don’t go to human homes, then I can see how PETA would think killing them is the only option. How utterly sad. I think my cats are better off in my home than they would be on the street, or dead.

PETA also kills 85% of the pets in their shelters. Maybe they should change their name to People for the Euthanizing Treatment of Animals.

Mine too!!!
Dare I say that this is just another manifestation of the culture of death?? While certainly not on a level with abortion & euthanasia–which, after all, involve human beings with immortal souls–it is still the same unimaginable (to me) mindset that says that life has no value.

Penn and Teller have a show on Showtime called Bulls**t. One of the shows deals with PETA. It’s fun to watch but they do drop a lot of ‘F’ Bombs, so be warned.
