Two questions about the trinity

The quotes regarding “us” are not intended to demonstrate trinity but plurality of persons. There is divine simplicity, that is, one God in three persons, not three gods. The Trinity is not three creatures so cannot be compared to creatures Adam and Eve. Baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is Baptism in the Most Holy Trinity, as Jesus said he was one with the Father and in John 17:5:And now glorify thou me, O Father, with thyself, with the glory which I had, before the world was, with thee.
With reference to divine simplicity, why is not one God and One Person simpler than one God and three persons?

Because there is a mutual Love and purpose rather than rigidity. Not politics but relationship in Unity.

Hi. As others said, there are Three Persons in One God.

I have a similar question. let me ask it here:

Question: Can a Divine Person be a Person of Trinity, singly?

God bless you
Some answers Please!!

Could you clarify your question.

It could be taken a number of ways.

Are you asking of a Divine Person can be a member of a trinity, or are you asking if a Single Divine Personhood can encompass a trinity

The number of persons has no impact on unity and simplicity.

The unity and simplicity of God exclude every kind of plurality of absolute things but not plurality of relations. The term person designates real distinction which lies in the relationships.

Generally, this is not true. The number of persons does have an impact on unity. If there is one person in a household, there is the unity which comes from one person. IF there is a family of 10 members, there is going to be disunity on a whole variety of issues.

In human affairs, yes. In exploring the relationships though what unifies them is 1 Will and Substance, Love. Love of Son by the Father begot the Son. The Son’s Love for the Father is a complete submission to the Will of the Father. The Father Wills to save the world. The Son Saves/Saving the World through Himself by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Shows us the Son (Glorifies Him) who in turn conforms us to His will (which is the Father’s Will). One Will proceeding and begotten out of the Love of the Father.

John 10: 30 ‘The Father and I are one.’
John 14: 9 ‘Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know Me?’ ‘Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father…’
John 14: 16 ‘I shall ask the Father and He will give you another Paraclete’

Another means a further of the same kind, similar to.

An example of the Trinity together:
Matthew 3: 16-17 And when Jesus the Son] was baptized He at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and He saw the Spirit Holy Spirit] of God descending like a dove and coming down on Him. And suddenly there was a voice the Father] from heaven, ‘This is My Son, the Beloved; My favour rests on Him.’

Does Jesus have a will different from the Father. Also, does Jesus know everything that the Father knows? It seems like there is disunity in what the Father knows and what the Son knows, because the Father knows the day or hour, but the Son does not.

However, it is not applicable to God.

I posted in #4 “… God is not a creature so one cannot apply the logic that applies to creatures to God. No parts are introduced into the essence do to the three persons; their distinction lies in the relationship.”

The son of Man has a will that is His own and at the same time completely conformed to the Father’s Will. Yet Only the Father knows all things. (The Father’s Capacity is the Alpha and the Omega, the FULLNESS of ALL things) "no one knows the day nor the hour’’. Now Jesus could ask the Father for the Day and Hour but He did not for it was not His will (nor part of His Ordained Capacity/purpose) to know that. So Just as we, by the Holy Spirit, do not know all things, We do know Christ whom, because He has a perfectly conformed human will to the Divine, is firstly, given all things by the Father, but is also able to then glorify us by conforming our Will to His. It is in this that we can become sons of God. It is by this that we are ‘‘taught by God’’. The Father sends the Son who sends the Spirit who shows us the Son, who then will show us the Father. Born out of The Love of the Father so that by Him, through the Son, ALL flesh will know of He who sent Him, namely the Father and be freely and perfectly united (are one with) to Him and His Will.

How can that be perfect unity. The Father knows all things but the Son does not know all things?
The Son does know all things IN the Father at The End and Beginning. But in His temporal capacity in the Son, only that which is necessary was/is known. God is eternal and outside of Time. But since we are in time a temporal median via the Son was ordained. And by the Son the Holy Spirit conforms us to the Will and Love of the Father through the Son. We are precious metals, so to speak, that need to be refined by the fire of our God. "For our God is a consuming fire’’ Heb 12:29. It is the Fire of Love which, upon experiencing and seeing through the Holy Spirit, we begin to be refined by the conforming of our spirit to the Holy Spirit through His Love which is reciprocated by our Love as children for the Father. We ask, He delivers. We have a need… He already has it covered. But Faith is required to see this as the Son shows us this CONSUMING love at work in our life and spirit.

Does Jesus have a will different from the Father.
The Trinity has one divine will shared by all the Persons.

Additionally, when the Second Person took on a human nature, He acquired a human will.

So Jesus, the Son Incarnate, has both the single divine will and a human will, as illustrated in the story of His agony in the garden, when His human feelings and instincts were pulling away from His painful destiny but He nevertheless conformed His human will to the divine will.
Also, does Jesus know everything that the Father knows? It seems like there is disunity in what the Father knows and what the Son knows, because the Father knows the day or hour, but the Son does not.
This is one of the more difficult Biblical citations for the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity, no doubt. All of the Divine Persons are omniscient; there is nothing that any of them does not know. But Jesus does affirm that only the Father knows the day and hour of the End. It is possible that He was referring there to His human knowledge, or meaning that He had not been sent into the world to reveal that information rather than that He literally was unaware of it.

In response to your second question, it sounds like you are questioning Jesus’ divinity and equality to God the Father.
Is Jesus equal to God the Father. I thought He said: “The Father is greater than I” in John 14:28.

They are equal in divinity and power as God.

In terms of their relationship, the Father begets the Son and is not begotten by Him, and he sends the Son and is not sent by Him. There is a sense in which fatherhood.is greater than sonship, but it does not affect the fundamental equality and unity of the Persons.

That is not what God the Son said. God the Son has told us that the Father knows the day or hour, but not the Son.
Yes the Father being the fullness of knowledge knows ALL, being at the End and the Beginning. Jesus is ever present and eternal IN the Father at the END so He knows, in that sense, all that the Father Knows being IN and ONE with the Father. Yet temporally in His capacity as a human He has the Father in Him and He is in the Father, and they are one, but since He is NOT at the End TEMPORALLY He states the Truth. Only the Father (at that point temporally ie in time) knows the Day and Hour. So His statement is completely true and expounds upon the Paternal and Filial relationship within the Trinity.
