I’m trying to figure this one out. All I can find online so far are a) criticism regarding sexual abuse record and b) complaints about his immigration statements.

He has addressed/defended his handling of the abuse involvement. From what I can tell, his immigration statements are equivalent to one of my favorite bishop’s - Archbishop Chaput. Are there other stances or statements or actions by Bishop Kicanus that are of concern? If not, then I don’t see what the problem is.

I agree with you. Some people are hung up on his handling of the ordination of a man who gave indications of being homosexual, but his record overall has been good, and given the precedent of the way the President is chosen, it would seem that he personally would have to be the abuser to be denied the slot.
