That’s my question also. In the OP’s post above she says that her fiancé and her have come to a decision - a Catholic wedding. The the OP is asking to have a civil ceremony as well. Which means they have not come to a decision that the Catholic ceremony is enough.
You can now abandon the idea of appeasing the parents if your fiancé has agreed to a Catholic wedding.
