U.S. bishops shun Notre Dame venue due to V-Monologues

South Bend, Feb 9, 2008 / 11:07 am (CNA).- A theological seminar for Catholic bishops has been relocated from the campus of the University of Notre Dame in response to the school’s planned performance of the play “The Vagina Monologues,” the South Bend Tribune reports.
The seminar, a meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Doctrine, includes Notre Dame faculty who act as advisors and is co-sponsored by the university’s Institute for Church Life. Instead of taking place on the Notre Dame campus, it has been moved to a convent of the Sisters of St. Francis in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Good!!! I wonder if the University will now sponsor the penis monologues which is a spoof actually performed in Chicago about a year ago. I didn’t see it but from it’s description it makes as much sense of the VM.

These are our leaders.

They do the politically correct thing - They won’t publicly condemn it -They’ll just shut up and sit down and be bathed in ignorance and sin - and allow their sheep to be devoured.

Theological seminar? Committee on Doctrine? Don’t we already have a magisterium and a catechism? JUST READ IT AND TEACH IT.

This is just another diversion - another excuse for bishops (and their secretaries) to spend our money on a week out of town, expensive hotels, food and drink, while their sheep are wandering off into the woods.

Sorry - at this point the great majority of them just make me sick.

Imagine reading this in the paper just 50 years ago - NEVER! That ____ monologue would have closed the first night BECAUSE OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHURCH and the outrage of Catholics!

Yeah, back then…

Does anybody have a guest list (which bishops are going and which are not?)
 
The Philosophy and Theology Departments are virtually under siege at the Catholic University at which I teach. Even the “ministry” team hired by the University teach that homosexualist activity is simply an expression of a God given tendency. Male and Female students share floors on campus. The V-Monologues are presented. I suspect that if the Dean could get away with it he would eliminate the Theology department. Being an adjunct in this setting is rather precarious. Pray for me and for the Theology faculty.
