U.S. Catholic bishop calls Mandela’s support of abortion ‘shameful’, black leaders concur

That’s because abortion is murder but has become common place all over the world and called a “right”. It is a sin that cries to God for justice. There is nothing in this world that is more evil than the murder of an innocent baby. How can people have compassion for anyone if they think that killing babies is no big deal?

The discussion here is not about just anyone’s compassion for others, it is about the compassion that our Holy Father has shown for Mandella praising the good he has done that has been under attack. Surely you can understand how our Holy Father could have compassion even for sinners?

I don’t know for the life of me how anyone could spend 27 years in prison fighting for human rights, from the screams of the people been butchered on the streets to the silent screams of his brothers and sisters murdered in their mothers womb. 1 million babies was a figure brandished around of those killed after someone saw fit to sign their tiny lives away.
And i’m not just talking about Nelson Mandela, I’m talking about anyone that thinks they have the God given right to execute babies, who’s only crime is they want to live, to taste their first breath of air, to feel their mommas touch, that is …to Love +++

Bishop Tobin as quoted in the article: "“There is part of President Mandela’s legacy, however, that is not at all praiseworthy, namely his shameful promotion of abortion in South Africa,” said Providence, RI Bishop Thomas Tobin in a statement published yesterday. "

Then down further in the article, John-Henry Westen writes: *"Tobin’s remarks come in the wake of statements offering unqualified praise for Mandela in statements from Pope Francis and New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan. " *

The difference is that Bishop Tobin’s statement refers to some of Mandela’s actions as not being praiseworthy while John-Henry Westen’s remark is aimed at our Holy Father and Cardinal Dolan as having offered “unqualified praise”.

Yeah, but is it true? (For the record, I don’t know, I’m just giving Bp. Tobin the benefit of the doubt.)

Criticism of recently dead popular figures is considered unacceptable by a great many Americans. It is usually better to let the dead rest in peace for awhile before launching attacks.

I don’t think social expectations are nearly as important as making sure that, on the whole, Mandela is not someone worthy of imitation. That is to say, abortion is quite a bit more evil than apartheid.
