**Saw this on CNN, two Catholics discussed it, said it was Vatican-approved. Total nonsense, abuse of a sacred ritual, borders on sacrilege. **

Same thing as a Kindle copy of a book on the Sacrament. Much ado over nothing. With the media, it’s the tease that sells.

Well, I don’t have the app, but I am assuming it’s something as simple as an examination…do you disapprove of pamplets, like those from the Fathers of Mercy, that lists an examination? Do those border as well?

I don’t understand your concern.

You need to calm down. It’s nothing more than an electronic guide to an examination of conscience, coupled with a variety of prayers, including a variety of Acts of Contrition. There’s nothing about it to suggest it takes the place of Confession, nor anything sacreligious at all.

No different than going online to look up and compare different examination of conscience. I don’t see what all the flap is about. Maybe some have not realized that we do not really live in ages past. We are not cave dwellers:)

This is like the 3rd or 4th post on this same topic, I wish people would do a search before posting something. 🤷

The story I saw om CNN was not correct:mad:IT is a simple aid to “practicing” for one’s confession. End of story. The two on CNN presented it as if it were an actual confession not a rehearsal. The Pope’s PR priest Fr Lombardi had to explain this today because of the mis-handling by some media outlets:shrug:You may not be familiar with a supposed site o the internet that used -maybe still does- claim to be a Vatican site to actually confess one’s sins. I sent the CNN team the actual media conference report from Fr. L this aft ern oon.It is approved for the whole Church, not the US as noted on here ! I am all for sharing the Good News in every way possible but prefer not to get Vatican and Church news filtered through the general media, thank you:)

++++++++++++++++++No need for sarcasm! :mad:my follow-up post today- even the Pope’s PR priest had to correct the media mis-h andling of this simple item. I saw the CNN one, then the correction came today from the Vatican. The BBC news tonight gave it a simple and direct explanation:shrug:

No sarcasm intended. That’s why I used:)and not

Fox got it right the first time. They were careful to state, “only a preparation”, “does not replace confession”.

I am pretty sure some of their daytime news staff are Catholic. Or maybe they just called their priest who is on staff, to clarify.

And you would be surprised how many people think Catholics are old-fashioned and not very savvy. Especially older folks as I am.🙂

This is not true. Completely mis-reported.

Go to Catholic News Agency and read the article from the Vatican Spokesperson, ( I can’t remember the priest’s name).

In which he explains that no computer app will ever replace the “penitent/confessor” face to face need for the Sacrament. ]

Everyone that hates having to face the priest or make that personal confession of that “horrible sin”…would naturally latch on to this initial bit of mis-information.

No app can replace the priest in persona Christi.
