What should we do if someone beside us in the crowd is throwing ashes at the popemobile?
Just turn into this guy:

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

WHAT’S YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION, NUMBNUTZ? DIDN’T YOUR MOMMY GIVE YOU ENOUGH TOYS TO PLAY WITH WHEN YOU WERE LITTLE? I AM GOING TO STOMP YOUR GUTS OUT!!!

Of course we cannot be sure they will break the law, but thier past actions should bring on twinge of expectation of evil goings on, since they are protesting against the idea that thier sexual behavior may be immoral, what do you think?
I think, given your inclusion of the ACT UP and WHAM poster, and given the Rainbow Sash Movement declaration, that there will be a small circus at papal events. Who knows how many other disaffected groups will decide that the opportunity to protest in front of cameras is too good to pass up?
Pray for them…
Absolutely.

I am not sure I am able. I don’t support the proposed actions, and consider them highly rude and unacceptable, but I am not sure that any law-breaking will occur.

I suppose it is possible that some might try to block the Pope’s path, although is that a crime? Certainly resisting police who came to remove them from the road would be, though.

Doesn’t the pope have freedom of passage?

The whistles might drown out his speech, and might disrupt the outdoor mass. But are these crimes? Again, resisting the police who might intervene would certainly be.

"Disturbing the Peace…can that apply?

The ashes, as I understand, would be thrown at his car while others are throwing confetti. I am not sure this is crime, either.

It is an outward display of ASSAULT. It also is a misdemeanor of littering.

The lewd behavior… I am not sure why you think this would occur.

Lewd behavior has occurred at recent St. Patrick’s Day parades and have been the norm in New Orleans “Mardi Gras.”

I haven’t paid much attention to the RSM before, but I think their protest of the Pope will turn out to be similar to Move On’s General Be-Tray Us ad. It won’t advance their goals, and it will hurt their organization.
Their goals may not be achieved per se, but they will gain more militant recruits. And their actions will grow even bolder.

They are confronting the Successor to Peter. He is the Visible Head of Christ’s Church on earth. This is DEMONIC at its base.

Are you saying that the Rainbow Sash Movement has criticized the Pope for supporting equal rights? For whom have they opposed equal rights?
My apologies for being perhaps a little bit too vauge. I probably should have wrote “these same TYPES of activists”

I was referring to what seems to be the ironic tendency for homosexual activists to assosciate and identify with pro-abortion activists.🤷

I think we can almost, be assured that the interviewing of “gay” Catholics for this story is mainly a front to attempt to put a legit face on what a broader coalition of activists including act up, rainbo sash, etc., have mind in their planned events to get thier message heard and to push the agenda of the more radical fringes of a misguided movement. The so-called “gay” rights movement is a movement which in the long run is about pushing the acceptance of immoral behavior which the majority has rejected, but is being bullied to accept as normal. The bully factor makes such “equal” rights movements facist in nature as opposed to legit rights movements that have been sought by ethnic and minority groups. In other words they do not have moral ground to stand on, for they reject the foundation of morality, that is God. Thier protest against the pope are really aimed at God and natural law. The inclusion of the more radical elements of the movement is a choice made by opposing the Church teachings of morality and trying to distant themselves from that more radical fringe is a fraud in logic.

Certainly they have been regarded as a minority group by liberals since the era of Gay Liberation in the 1970s. I suppose it is not surprising that this has become the norm over the past 30 years.

As for the phrase “gay Americans”, it is an interesting phrase. Saying “gay American” seems redundant if the phrase is not in a foreign news source.

I briefly looked at the first two pages of Google News results for that phrase and the only times I saw it is used was in gay blogs or newspapers, when an advocate for gay rights was being quoted, or when an advocate for gay rights had written an op-ed piece.
I had never heard this phrase used on a national newscast. This was on the Today show with Matt Lauer. It just sort of surprised me, although I knew they have been trying to be equal to other minority groups. I believe this is the forunner to hate speach legislation that will be pending in the future, and used against ministers, the general public etc. as in Canada. Just my opinion.

A couple other gay Catholic groups will be protesting during the Pope’s U.S. visit, but it sounds as if their strategy is much lower key.
Marianne Duddy-Burke, executive director of Dignity USA, whose local chapters organize weekly Sunday Masses for gay Catholics, said representatives of her group plan to greet the Pope with signs along his motorcade route in Washington.
DeBernardo said New Ways Ministries is inviting its constituents and supporters to write their own letters to the Pope, which the group will hand-deliver to the Vatican Embassy in Washington on April 10.

Incidentally, the caption underneath the photo in the article has the Church’s teaching wrong.

Just a side note…

Based on discussions in other threads about the “real” sin of Sodom & Gommorah being inhospitality, is it fair to call these particular homosexuals “Sodomites” regardless of your interpretation of those events?

Only if New York has Fire and Brimstone in its weather forecast.

Can I be Catholic and gay? I am excommunicated if I am a divorced and remarried… Does the Catholic church no longer consider marriage as being between a man and a woman? It is a sin if a couple is divorced and remarried to have sex. Is the church saying it is alright for unweb couples of the same sex to have sex? Marriage is a Sacrament and our leaders should be very clear that active gays are not part of the Catholic church. Speak up Bishops. Your heads are about 5 feet under the sand.

Active gays can be, and are, part of the Catholic Church. They simply are committing sins from which they need to abstain.

Pray for them, don’t push them out the door.

Well said, pontoon! Some of those heads may be 500 feet in the CLOUDS. Some bishops outrightly allow homosexual candidates for seminary.

This protest is not freedom of speech. It is disorderly conduct and distrubing the peace. However nothing will be done and their protest will get as much coverage by the bias media as the Holy Father’s visit. Can you imagine if they protested Martin Luther King’ s civil rights march. Of course they would not dare because the media would be all over them for distrubing a black protest. I don’t think the Rev. Martin Luther King would be supporting gay marriage if he were alive. Do you notice how the media doesn’t not refer to MLK as a minister or follower of Christ but as Doctor Martin Luther King. Why is that? Code pink, move on . org and gay protest are not freedom of speech but disorderly conduct and no one does anything about it. So they will disturpt the Pope’s visit and all us Catholics will do nothing and they will get the attention of the media. Just step on us some more. That’s how liberals work they have no rules

If the Popesmobile should be showered with ashes it should be for him getting Bush to grant him immunity from being forced to come forward and testify in his role of priest sex abuse cover-up.

Let them misbehave.

It only shows what kind of people they are.

Not only do they practice instrinsically evil deeds, but they also shown themselves as people who can’t be respected by their behaviors.

The two go hand-in-hand

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen…

Can you be Catholic and gay? I don’t believe the gay life style is following the teachings of Christ. If they are please enlighten me.

Please replace the term “the gay lifestyle” in your sentence with “that engaging in any sinful activity”. Now think of the particular sinful activities that you engage in. Do those activities change you into something other than a Catholic?

It isn’t. Neither is contraception, but those who use it are still Catholic, albeit Catholics in a state of sin.
