Would you stop it with that wretched mud-throwing? This tune is getting old…
Good point. Mudslinging was NOT what Jesus was about. It is hard to fathom how some people justify negative behavior for their “cause”. I hope people do NOT treat our Pope rudely, yet are those who sling mud any better
than those who would sling ashes?

Name me one first world country where abortion is illegal. Name me one third world country where abortion is illegal.
Oh boy… that gets into the area of what is considered first world and what is considered third world. How would you classify Portugal and Chile?

Ridgerunner:
These people know full well they are not going to change the Pope’s mind
I think you make a good point. Does the Rainbow Sash Movement (or DignityUSA or New Ways Ministry) honestly think they will change the Church’s position via their protest?

The general belief is not that the Church is wrong, per se, but that it is not standing fast to catholic values anymore.
I don’t understand this mindset at all. The Church is teaching the exact same thing She has consistently taught for 2,000 years, not to mention holding fast to the teachings of Christ, the apostles, and the early church fathers (unlike may Protestant churches).

If that’s NOT standing fast to Catholic values, I don’t know what is. 🤷

Loving one’s neighbor and etc. does NOT mean condoning them in their sin. Jesus said, “Go and sin no more,” not “Go and keep on doing what you were doing.”
Plus, who would want to leave the Church of God, the one Holy and Apostolic Church founded by Christ Himself? Even living in sin within the Church is better than stranding yourself from Christ completely.
Here’s what I don’t understand. If (g)you reallyand **truly **believe that the Church is the Church of God, the one Holy and Apostolic Church founded by Christ Himself – why won’t (g)you obey Her teachings? How can you believe the CC is the Church that Christ founded, the TRUE Church, yet refuse to believe Her teachings? It makes no sense whatsoever to me. 🤷

But at any time, they’re allowed to marry.** GLBTs are not**.
Sure they can. To say otherwise is a lie. They just cannot marry anyone of the same sex.

They have the same right to marry that anyone else does:

That is to marry one, willing, single, adult, human person of the opposite sex.

Name me one law, civil or canon, that denies them this right, the exact same right everyone else has.

The general belief is not that the Church is wrong, per se, but that it is not standing fast to catholic values anymore. .

When did ‘Catholic values’ ever include anything other than a condemnation of homosexual acts.

I think it is still illegal in Ireland.
That is correct. Ireland has a “Right to Life” ammendment in it’s Constitution recognizing the intrinsic Right to Life of an unborn child.

It is also illegal in Northern Ireland (UK)

once again, it’s irrelevant to the argument.
Not really because what these gay protestors really want…the aim of this fiasco they’re planning… is approval of gay sex, approval of gay “marriage”, approval of sin.

If the Pope would today announce that homosexual practices are the will of God, I can guarantee that there would be NO demonstrations upon his arrival in this country.

It is as I said earlier. I’ve never heard an adulterer say that adultery is good. I have heard homosexuals claim that their sexual relationships are good. They are wrong. Same sex activity goes against the Natural Law as defined by Aquinas.

Isn’t this kind of action illegal? I mean, the pope is a head of state. i hope they won’t be able to get away with this.
Me thinks they should keep the ashes and sprinkle them on themselves, I’m sure the Pope will take it all in his stride, PINK NEWS indeed, nuff said.

The general belief is not that the Church is wrong, per se, but that it is not standing fast to catholic values anymore.
Ridiculous! The Church’s teaching has been unwavering. Of course, perhaps your definition of ‘standing fast’ is code for adjusting moral norms to fit the secular culture.
Plus, who would want to leave the Church of God, the one Holy and Apostolic Church founded by Christ Himself?
But I doubt that they truly believe that the Catholic Church IS the Church of God, else they would know that the Catholic Church could not err in her teachings regarding faith and morals.
Even living in sin within the Church is better than stranding yourself from Christ completely.
How so? If unrepentant, the end of both is eternal separation from God in hell.

Do you even know any gay people, or are you just spouting textbooks at me?

ANYONE who would “protest” the pope
because the pope upholds the moral teachings of the Holy Spirit
as written down infallibly by the apostles in Holy Writ and attested to in Holy Tradition,
is not a mere “protestant,”
but a Blasphemer and an Apostate.

*Can't find anything funny. Enlighten me.*
Really? you can’t? Look harder
I’m glad someone gets it besides me. 😛

Problem is, once you’re catholic, switching out of the church is usually a bigger sin than living gay and partnered → hence it’s not done often (although done too much).

A fatal sin is a fatal sin. BTW., when someone no longer follows the doctrines of the Church, nor does he/she believe in the authority of the Church…he ceases to “be” Catholic. A Formal statement re leaving the Church is not necessary.

I
suggest you find out about New Ways and Dignity to see where they’re coming from.

Yeah this is just wrong! They will avoid the truth at all costs and listen only to their own poorly skewed sexual understanding.

They think he is staunchly opposed to human rights–it’s not human rights he is opposed to it is human rights he is protecting.

I think some excommunications are needed. It’s amazing how even Catholics completely IGNORE Scripture, the Word of God they claim to follow, just so they can follow these heretical movements. It’s times like these I wouldn’t mind having the Old World Order back, where a Catholic monarch could easily protect the Pope and Church from these heretics.

There are many people who cannot go to see the Holy Father, who would really like to go (including myself). Considering his age, this may be the only time he comes here as Pope. It truly is a shame that there will be people who will go only to protest. I think we should be praying that the Pope has a pleasant trip to the U.S., is received with an appropriate welcome, and is safe.
