U.S. Priest Found Dead in Brazil
RIO DE JANEIRO – A U.S. Catholic priest and academic was found dead with his hands tied and a cord around his neck in an apartment in the northeastern Brazilian city of Paulista, authorities said Tuesday.

The naked body of 72-year-old Ferdinand Azevedo was found Monday night by members of his congregation who had been trying to get in contact with him for several days and decided to go personally to look for him at the apartment, maintained by the Jesuit order to accommodate priests on individual retreats.

For all the faithful departed…

Réquiem ætérnam dona eis, Dómine,
et lux perpétua lúceat eis.
Requiéscant in pace. Amen.

This is a hate crime. Time to use the PC Police’s own “intolerance” card against them.

In appearances with late-night talk radio show host Art Bell, Father Malachi Martin stated that the rash of priest-murders in America in the late nineties involved exorcists. Wonder if this priest was one such victim? In America the Church was very hush-hush about this, likely to avoid any copy-cat murders.

“This kind is driven out only by fasting…” --Jesus Christ

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by all the power of God, cast into Hell Satan, and all evil spirits, who roam throughout your world seeking the ruin of souls. AMEN

Hm?

Why do you think that hate was the motivation for this crime? Does Brazil even have a separate charge for hate crimes?

I’m not saying it definitely was not a hate crime, but is there any evidence that it is? Old fashioned robbery/murder does take place…

Is there evidence that it was murder?

Police investigate death of US Jesuit priest in northeastern Brazil
SAO PAULO — Authorities are trying to determine if a U.S. Jesuit priest found dead in northeastern Brazil committed suicide or was killed.

Azevedo’s left hand was tied behind his back with a cord that went around his waist, she said in a telephone interview. A metal chain was wrapped around his neck. The body showed no signs of violence and nothing was stolen from Azevedo’s room. Authorities are conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“At this stage, we cannot rule out anything,” Alves said. “Suicide is a possibility, but so is homicide.”
