I know nothing about George Clooney. I’ve never watched anything he is in.

I have been involved with many people in music since U2 put out its first album and I have yet to meet anyone who has a high opinion of Bono. If you like him, fine, keep him on your side of the room because I don’t want to be uncharitable and tell him exactly what I think of him.

Again, I certainly do not agree with Bono on the abortion issue. I am not saying the man is perfect. But I certainly do not see a problem with Pope Francis meeting the man, nor was it wrong for Pope Benedict XVI or St John Paul II to meet with him.

As much as we have to fight the abortion battle, and I do not want to sound like one of those people who water down the term “Pro-Life”, we have to realize that in todays world many people are simply mal-formed on the issue, and are not bad people at heart. We cannot shy away from working with good people on other social issues. We will never change people’s hearts if we shun everyone who is pro-choice. All the while, we should never forget that we are absolutely anti-abortion.

You make a good point about not shunning people and working to promote the common good for mankind. It is not prudent to condemn others in an attempt to change minds.

However, Christ instituted the Church to bring men to eternal (not worldly) salvation. How does the Church accomplish this? By teaching the truths necessary for salvation. Christ promised the world would “hate” and “persecute” those who proclaim the truth.

Bono proclaimed his “truth” which is in direct opposition to the truth of Christ. He heavily influenced the Irish voters to allow for the killing of the most vulnerable lives God creates in His image and likeness. THAT is watering down the pro-life argument?

People are malformed precisely BECAUSE the Church is no longer speaking clearly and authoritatively about the life issues. Does She or doesn’t She allow pro-abortion politicians to take the Body and Blood of Christ? Confusion about WHAT the Church really teaches abounds.

All fair points. The Church certainly needs to do a better job proclaiming her teachings to the world.

Dont care if Bono doesnt pay taxes. I do care that he keeps on demonizing capitalism while benifiting greatly from it. The ultimate hypocrite.

There are other options:people doing selective listening ,or ,listening with ear plugs . Ergo rambling on …
One doesn t know whether to laugh or to cry with this type of statement.
The Church has spoken and actively participated til it hurts on life issues. Til today, she is so much in the front lines that she is identified as an enemy by very many.
But of course, what do we know…
This topic is about Bono anyway

Well, not paying taxes while everyone else does is a part of the hypocrisy. I don’t know why you don’t care about that. It is also against the law.
