July 27 (Bloomberg) – The U.K. government today expressed “deep regret” to the family of a Catholic man killed in 1988 in Northern Ireland by a British soldier.
Aidan McAnespie was shot dead at a checkpoint in county Tyrone, in the U.K region. The soldier said the gun discharged accidentally, a claim rejected by the victim’s family and the police’s historical enquiry team who said last year the claim was so unlikely it could be “virtually disregarded”
