Forget about atrocities commited elsewhere, the US can claim top winner in the genocide game.

The global UN concensus is that Guantanamo needs to be shut down. This recommendation by that governing body the US continually claims to respect and seek for sanctions for it’s global world policing.

Now we will see the US principles being applied. Dollars to donuts and in true character this arrogant nation tells their advisors where to go.

How do you get genocide from that article? How many have died? You don’t help your cause with lies.

Speaking of the Nazis, one thing they were very good at was distributing misinformation. That being said, based on your claim and what the article actually says, who is closer to the Nazis, you or the US government?

No, my argument is with you. The UN doesn’t claim that genocide is occurring at Gitmo, you are. Explain how you got genocide from that article.

Not fair, I asked first, but…😃

Only 2 possibles by US standards has laid down in many cases of it’s own. If their doing what they are supposed to they conform to the Geneva convention, if they don’t, they don’t classify.

Waiting for my answer.

Why? Does forgetting about the UN errors in Rwanda make any of the 3 million dead there less dead? Their survivors less traumatized? Dallaire less of a brave, noble commander for achieving what little good he did in the face of overwhelming UN bureaucracy and corruption?

I am never going to forget about Rwanda.

Come on, Andy. This is just too much of a stretch. Ya wanna talk about genocide, then the US is not on the list of suspects.

Is the global UN concensus different from the UN concensus?

Andy, would you please rephrase this? I honestly don’t understand what you are saying.

I don’t understand “dollars to donuts.” Has a US corporation bought Tim Horton’s?

I really don’t think namecalling – ie, “arrogant nation” – clarifies your position.

By the way, Canadian Omar Khadr is being held at Gitmo.

I don’t even understand what you wrote. As far as your answer goes, I don’t care why the UN wants it closed.

You have made a grossly false accusation. Please explain how you get anything close to genocide from that article. Otherwise, just admit you fabricated your claim.

Andy, this does not answer the question. How do you get American genocide from that UN committee decision?

Please would you be so kind as to explain your accusation about American genocide? When did the US commit genocide? How many millions of civilians has the US deliberately murdered? Not killed, but murdered?

As for the new title you have put above your post – to wit, “Gestapo could learn a few things”: what exactly do you think the Gestapo could learn and from whom? How is this comment of yours relevant to the subject of the thread?

I think the commentary of the original poster is flame bait.

I think we understood your accusation about genocide fairly well. The rest of it… well if you want to clarify, then I think that is a good idea.

Are you going to answer the question: how do you get genocide from the UN committee’s report?

When did we start wholesale killings at Gitmo? Didn’t think there were enough prisoners there to start a genocide.

Welcome to the forum. Would you please be kind enough to quote where Andy said “ther gona wing it.” I can’t find a post of his saying “ther gona wing it.”

Andy: how do you get “genocide” from the UN article?

I understand english quite well. You wrote an incoherent post.

The main point is clear - you accuse the US of genocide. Either back up your claim or retract.

I am not going to review all the posts concerning Guantanamo,
the slights of Muslim religions, the porn mags to prisoners, etc. That speaks for itself. Neitheer am I to dig up every news article for the past 3 years. I assume everyone is current on news events.

Also there is erroneous belief that I need to back up every argument with sold facts that confirmed authorities have used by their decision. It is enough that we find them worthy of the tasks we citizens assign them. The UN is an agreed on institution that the globe(mostly) finds of good repute, and when called upon to support it’s interests in the ongoing war, the US proved that
repute.

When the Geneva convention was drawn up, it was to prevent genocidic wrongs on captured prisoners, even if it was by another name. If then the UN deems it below standard, the US finds it in good repute, then it must be below standard.

There is never an in between in US policy. Bush said “If they are not with us, they’re against us”, so they by their own principles, if they fail by standards then they do.

There’s plenty wrong with Gitmo without throwing around accusations of genocide…

I think the prisoners at Gitmo should either receive a trial or be released (I’d prefer trials myself, with release for those innocent of the charges and appropriate penalties for those found guilty). Your post doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, though.

The case against Gitmo is strong on its merits. Stick to that, instead of picking fights. 🙂
