UNABLE to WALK -- IN NEED of SURGERY and MENTAL HEALTH

Hi

To make a very long story short…

I am barely able to stand or walk anymore due to acute nerve damage in my lower back.

I have been praying for a miracle for weeks on end and I need your help.

The first is prayers for a miraculous healing – hopefuly via a surgeon who can remove the herniated disc away from my spinal cord…

The second is for a mental healing. I am on antidepressants because I can no longer exercise for depression.

I used to walk 5 1/2 miles non stop. Now I can barely even stand.

I am asking everyone out there to please, please pray for a miracle to the venerable Cardinal John Henry Newman – who already has one miracle attributed to him for the healing of a man’s spine.

He needs another to become Blessed.

Please help me everyone.

Please.

I promise I will intently and devotedly pray for everyone who answers my prayer request.

I’m so sorry Vito:( …Back pain is the worst, and I pray very hard that you will be healed quickly…God hears all prayers, and I know that at times, it seems like the ‘answers’ come slowly, but they will come. I pray for you to be healed, but while you are not able to walk, I pray for you not to give up hope, and not to become despondent. I will include you in my Rosary tomorrow…

Also, please pray the Chaplet daily…it is a beautiful prayer and helps the most when we are feeling like we’re losing hope.

Merciful and healing Father, look with immense compassion upon Vito Joseph, see his suffering and graciously hear his prayers. He is being mightily tested and his faith remains unshaken. Lord, we know that everything he endures is for the perfection of his soul, but we plead for Your Heavenly Mercy, so that he may once again enjoy the dignity of a self-sufficient life. Father, he is a faithful man, whose prayers are being heard, and perhaps You wait for his heart to be properly disposed before you reveal the next part of Your plan to him.

Additionally, Father, we rely on the constant intercession of the Angels and Saints for our protection. We ask John Henry Cardinal Newman, a faithful and zealous servant, to intercede on behalf of Vito Joseph. Dear Vito,

I can relate to your situation. I was born with a disability which required me to walk with crutches and braces until I was 14. Then upon entering jr. high, I needed a wheelchair, as walking became way too exhausting.

I have often prayed to be healed, but, in God’s wisdom, it hasn’t happened. Please know that if He chooses not to heal you, He will give you the grace and strength to deal with disability. Trust me on that! I’m not saying that life in a wheelchair is easy, but as someone once told me, “It is a blessing to be alive.”

I am praying for you.

Yet again, there is an anecdote regarding Padre Pio who spoke to a man who asked to be healed of his blindness. Saint Pio told him: “If you were healed, you would lose your soul”. The Lord knows best.

I have had two spinal surgeries, and life has pretty much returned to normal, but I am now having a biopsy done to determine if I have lymphoma. I must trust the Lord, which we all find very difficult to do, considering our human frailties. Our lives are not our own, the are the Lord’s. He gave the gift and He calls it back in His own time.

Regarding the quote you mentioned, I did a bit of online searching and can’t find this anecdote. While I am not saying it didn’t happen, I find it hard to believe that Padre Pio would tell someone this, when he healed so many of blindness.

If possible, can you tell me where you found the quote? Thanks.

Will do. I likely heard it on EWTN, since that is all I listen to. Might have been in This Rock or Envoy. I’ll do some digging.

I am certain that I heard it on Catholic radio. I did a bunch of googling as well, and this does appear to be an urban legend. Mea culpa! I will do my Googling prior to posting any future quotes. I’m glad I at least used the qualifier “anecdote”.

I did find a reference to Padre Pio telling a man that he would not be healed, but that proclamation concluded with “until you are baptized”. The man was reportedly Jewish, but did submit to baptism against the wishes of his family. Yet, he was also reportedly healed.

You are in my prayers. I am asking a lot of saints to pray for you too! (some times it is good to be a " panhandler " like me when it comes to asking for prayer)
