Saint Bernards. They’re great dogs.
Actually named after the great St. Bernard of Montjoux, the patron of Alpinists and mountain climbers, so named by Pope Pius XI who himself was a skilled mountain climber who reached the summits of Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and a couple other peaks.

The dogs originated from the hospice that St. Bernard of Montjoux started to help travelers in the Alps.

Not to be confused with St. Bernard of Clairvaux, who was a different Bernard.

I don’t know if all dogs go to heaven, but I hope those rescue dogs do.
