OK, I guess it needs to be spelled out more clearly for you.Acts 11:26
…and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.
The Apostles and early Christians were neither Catholic nor Protestant. They were Christians… disciples of Jesus Christ. Peter, Mary, and James were not Catholic. And Paul was not Protestant. They were simply sinners redeemned by the blood of Christ and adopted into the family of God based on what Christ did on their behalf. I find it insightful how our flesh wants to make our particular brand of Christianity superior than the next person’s brand of Christianity. Is Christ divided?![]()
That’s simply your opinion my brother. The objective truth of God is something which can not be compramised on. There is no compramise, not due to any hard hearted sentament on our part, there is no compramise simply because God is the truth. The truth of God is what the CC teaches, this is the truth found in the inerrant word of God, both written in Sacrade Scripture and in Sacrade Tradition.
We are not God, we can not change the truth of God. All we can do is alter our selves to closely (as possible) conform to the truth of God.
Are you suggesting that there are multpile, contradictory truths of God as exists in the protistant theology? I’m sorry, that doesn’t work. That’s simply your opinion my brother.
That’s your personal opinion dear sister. It’s the same with Mary. God is completey sovereign, and through divine providence He can direct the course of history any way that pleases Him. God can make seeds of Abraham from stones if He desired. God is in no way dependent on the Catholic Church. And, I am not saying that God used the Catholic Church to give us the Bible either.OK, I guess it needs to be spelled out more clearly for you.
The Bible was compiled by a group of people who, yes, as you say, called themselves Christians. The organization that compiled the Bible, over time, came to be called what is now known as the Catholic church. Without the organization that is currently known as the Catholic Church, you wouldn’t have a Bible.
This is not about superiority of one group or another as you have alleged. This is simply historical fact.
Nope, I am saying that it is impossible for God to contradict Himself. The same contradiction you state about Protestantism is true in the Catholic Church and Orthodox Church. I think you guys need to mediate on ECT 1 and ECT II before you try to attempt a unity between Catholics and Protestants. Are you suggesting that there are multpile, contradictory truths of God as exists in the protistant theology? I’m sorry, that doesn’t work.
It’s not my personal opinion, what I stated about the Bible is an historical fact. That some person or another may not like the fact doesn’t alter the situation. That’s your personal opinion dear sister. It’s the same with Mary. No, the contradiction exists with in Protistantism alone?Nope, I am saying that it is impossible for God to contradict Himself. The same contradiction you state about Protestantism is true in the Catholic Church and Orthodox Church.
He’s disagreeing only because he knows he has to at this point. To break down his generic disagreements, and just accept reality would be to accept that schism was not of God, and that Protistant Theology contains error. It’s not my personal opinion, what I stated about the Bible is an historical fact. The fact of the matter is that the Bible was compiled by an organized religious group and that group, today, is known as the Catholic Church. You can deny the facts if you wish, but you can’t alter history. That’s what happened. If you want to pretend otherwise, that’s your choice, but facts are facts.
You can post that the Catholic Church has the Fullness of Truth for the next 500 years, but it’s only the Catholic verison of the historic Christian Faith. No, the contradiction exists with in Protistantism alone?
Are you saved via faith alone as you keep erroneously suggested?
Further are on saved for ever once you make your profession of faith and become baptised?
Is Jesus really present in the Eucharist (Lord’s supper)?
How often should the “Lords Supper” be celebrated?
This is one small collection of doctrines, in which there is vast differeing opinion, and is necessary to accuratly understand in order to obtain salvation. There is no conflict in the Catholic Church, there isn’t even any contradiction between the Catholic Church and various Eastern Orthodox Churches (any of them). But for some reason you protistants all believe wildly differnet stuff not only from the Orthodox Churchs (Catholic/Eastern), but also between eachother with in your own group!
You didn’t even address any of the points I brought up, points on which no Orthodox Church disagrees Catholic or Eastern. What is the Protistant answer for these critical contradictions? You can post that the Catholic Church has the Fullness of Truth for the next 500 years, but it’s only the Catholic verison of the historic Christian Faith.
Let’s take a break folks. You guys should follow the lead of Pope Benedict… posting that we are justified by faith alone if…He’s disagreeing only because he knows he has to at this point. To break down his generic disagreements, and just accept reality would be to accept that schism was not of God, and that Protistant Theology contains error.
Indeed, while I was Methodist, I was born from above. In the Catholic Church I have continued to live that out. That is why the moment when I formally joined the Catholic Church isn’t best described as the moment that I converted to Christ.Do you think you were born from above in the Methodist Church?
Well, that’s a great testimony for me in my understanding of the remnant chosen by grace. The true body of Christ is universal indeed.Indeed, while I was Methodist, I was born from above. I deeply appreciate those who raised me to know Christ.
I’m sorry, you can’t gloss over our differences by trying to say “see the baptisim is the same”. Our Church, which believes the bible, accepts that there is only one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. One and one alone, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If you were baptised as such, then you were baptised. This does not settle the fact that Protistants decided to leave the Church, and embrase contradictory doctrine (which you’ve never answered BTW).Well, that’s a great testimony for me in my understanding of the remnant chosen by grace. What are you talking about? I never left the Catholic Church, nor was I ever raised Catholic?I’m sorry, you can’t gloss over our differences by trying to say “see the baptisim is the same”. I never claimed either, my meaning is clear. What are you talking about? I never left the Catholic Church, nor was I ever raised Catholic?
Clear to you and not to me. There’s something in the Catholic Catechism about Christians like myself who was never raised Catholic.I never claimed either, my meaning is clear.
Yes there is. There is only one Church, one Body of Christ, and that is the Catholic Church. The other denominations are our separated brothers and sisters. All those who are validly baptized are part of the Body of Christ.Clear to you and not to me. There’s something in the Catholic Catechism about Christians like myself who was never raised Catholic.
This is correct, but the statement he’s making is almost certainly in the same spirit of “you see, we’re all one big happy spirital church”… No we’re not, they’re seperated brothers and sisters, there is schisim and it can’t just be ignored because it’s not a good thing.Yes there is.
