I need to back up to a previous post that I said the Moslems understand Islam through a fundamentalist approach, and then Famdigy provided a sequence of studies in acquiring knowledge of Islam.

What was concerning me in Islam is how God can contradict Himself…I see the same contradiction of thoughts and ideas coming forth when Muslims attempt to change the Bible, the events…a sort of denial thing that is based more on personal issues than observing other religions for what they are and what they profess to be. Or how Muslims can be experts on the Bible, on Christianity that is outside the land of Islam.

I also said that Islam represents its origin of a nomadic desert people…it has a different culture…yes, there are some Americans here who are converting…but they are bypassing something they do not know about their own personal cultural history…

I came to an article this evening on Catholiconline.com, the article regards a conversation with Robert R. Reilly who authored the book, ‘The Closing of the Muslim Mind: How Intellectual Suicide Created the Modern Islamist Crisis’. The article is entitled, ‘When Islam Abandoned Reason: A Conversation with Robert R Reilly.’

Mr Reilly states Islam has a concept of God without reason, and this is very dangerous because it leads to violence. The other statement he made is that Islam is ahistorical…and that explains to me why Muslims believe their understanding of a foreign religion is understood better by them, when in fact they are believing in myths and illusions of the true Christ. There are those who do not understand or recognize historical facts…the better word is in recognizing historical facts. Or rejecting them and believing in myths…

One Muslim believed that to restore Islam to its previous use of reason would be a great feat as so many aspects of life would have to be changed…and what he would do is re-Hellenize the region…Islam overtook the Byzantine Empire through slaughter. And now it needs to let it prosper again for its own preservation…

When violence is promoted, then it eventually goes full circle…Christ said those who live by the sword, die by the sword…
100% true… this is why i’m saying “forgive but not forget” unless the history gonna repeat him self…

What you in the west are doing… is all mistakes… and one day you gonna be like us if you didn’t react…
Are you familiar with this proverb:" Forgive but not Forget" ?

It looks like forgetting is something normal…
Yes, I am very familiar with the proverb. But this does not answer my question.
What exactly are the mistakes you keep referring to?

Bless you best words for all belivers

I disagree with both of you here, I think we should work with the concept “forgive and forget”, else we will keep reminding each others with our mistakes throughout our lifetime.

Mark 11:25
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Sam_777, those who forget their past are bound to repeat it.

We are having a terrible time in the USA about a Hamas supporter wanting to build a 13-story mosque 2 blocks from the World Trade Center with 13 members…to promote Islam.

An Arab from the MIddle East said most Muslims do not care about that mosque…and he sees it as a monument to terror…and choosing the name, Cordoba…is intentional…the same name of the mosque that was built over a cathedral in Spain.

I read one site that said Muslims need to atone for the sins against our country. I wish the entire world would stop being afraid of retaliation and stand up against the Muslim world to demand apology and compensation using their oil money for the 270 million deaths thus incurred so far… a horrific price for its control in various parts of the world. Give back the cathedrals, churches, give people the total freedom to choose their religion…and see what happens…doesn’t sound Christian does it… we are to turn the other cheek…but we must follow reason and not give into those here who are not supported by the vast majority of Muslims…referring here back to the Arab commentator.

Why didn’t you anwser the question I’ve addressed to you?
Do you think we worship 3 gods or 1 god?
Al, If I understand it correctly, You claim to worship 1 God in essence who has 3 physical manifestations. It’s not possible to understand the trinity beyond that. Christians say we’re trying to understand God’s nature which is beyond the capability of our human brains. However, the concept of the triune god is a fundamental part of Christianity.

Can you be a Christian without believing in the trinity?

If the answer is “NO” then God according to you is demanding we believe in something which we can’t understand. Your god is an unjust god because he placed us in a catch-22 situation by creating in us the faculty of intelligence and higher thought, yet he demands we believe in something we can’t intelligently understand.

Kathleen, can you quantify what you mean by God contradicts himself. Robert Reilly is looking at a subset of Muslims. His comments with respect to a God without reason is not representative of Islam, rather a subset of Muslims or a specific branch or school from the many schools of thought claiming to be Muslim.

You take out St. Paul, you take out the 2nd readings of the Mass…to take out St Paul is akin to saying Jesus was never crucified…The second readings of the Mass–the Acts and Epistles have been around for 2000 years. The fruit of Jesus Christ is the discerning key to see if someone is bearing truth or not. St. Paul bears fruit, and like Peter, Christ renamed him from Saul to Paul.
.
As soon as Jesus left the scene a perfect opportunity arose for a false-prophet to corrupt from the inside. There was a requirement for the position of the 12th disciple to be filled. And here we see Paul appoint himself to this position, even though he had never met Jesus, and thus could not possible quote any of Jesus’ teachings with certainty. Yet, his self-acclaimed vision of Jesus putting him on a mission is seemingly enough to persuade people into believing his legitimacy.

Let’s compare Jesus’ teachings to that of Paul:
  1. Paul Abolished the law.
Jesus according to you said “the law will not be done away with, not the least point nor the smallest detail”.
Paul teaches the law is no longer obeyed. In his own words “We are free from the law” and it was meant to last until the coming of Jesus
  1. Paul introduced OSAS
Jesus came and taught the law and told people to obey them in order to reach the kingdom of heaven. Now, Paul teaches that as long as you believe in what Jesus taught, you don’t have to follow the Law. However, the Law IS what Jesus taught. So Paul is in essence saying, just believe in what Jesus taught and that is enough.
  1. Finally, Paul introduced Christianity not Jesus
The term “Christian” was not even used to label the followers of “Jesus’ teachings” until 10 or possibly 20 years after the departure of Jesus and was first used in Antioch.
It is worth noting that the first appearance of “Christians” and their associated teachings, “Christianity”, came in fact from Paul and NOT from Jesus. And Paul made sure he spent quite a significant amount of time to ensure his teachings (and not Jesus’ or his disciples) were thoroughly embedded into his new followers. Unfortunately, these teachings would then spread exponentially with time.

No, God is not unjust! It’s Muslim arrogance that wants to reduce him completely to the understanding of his creations!

The irony of your statement is that you don’t realize how you’ve reduced god into a needy, dependant mortal who depends on his on creation for sustenance.

Why did God create in us intelligence and the ability to comprehend and understand higher thought and then demands we believe in a fundamental concept essential to our salvation which we can’t understand. Show me the reasoning here?

That’s because you don’t understand that God is love and how much he loves all of us!

Why do we have to understand the Trinity in order to believe? To me it proves the awesome being that God is.

Booklover, I don’t think you understand what you just said let alone explain it to others. What do you mean by God is love?

the definition of love is “a strong positive emotion of regard and affection”
emotions are feelings and feelings are experiences, experiences are events at points in time, an event is something that happens.

do you mean to say I don’t understand that God happens?

Mark 11:25

My friend I think I know what you are talking about.
In 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17
[BIBLEDRB]2 Corinthians 5: 16-19[/BIBLEDRB]

If this what you are talking about, that who ever is new in Christ all his past is gone and forgotten, and he became a new person.
Well in this point you are right.
but see “forgive and forget” doesn’t means "Not to remember"
We forgot the past of the great St.Paul after knowing Christ who has changed his life 180 degrees when we talk about him, but always remember that before knowing Christ he persecuted the early Christians.

What I mean by saying “Forgive and not Forget” is that, we are all demanded by Christ to forgive even our worst enemies, but this doesn’t mean to forget what they did, otherwise WHY Do We Writ The History?
Isn’t the purpose of writing history to try not to commit the same errors and mistakes our ancestors did before us?
Isn’t the purpose from it to know what were the problems and mistakes and try not to repeat it again?

Why it’s not possible?
God is the Father, the son and the holy spirit.
I will try to make it more easy to you: Let’s take the example of a normal human being.
-** God** is the brain.
  • Jesus is the Word that express what the brain think of.
-** The Holy Spirit** is the soul.
No Human being can exist without: 1- having a Brain. 2- Having a way to express what the brains think of. 3- Having a soul.

Besides, Why do you consider Trinity as being “not possible” to understand since it is mentioned in the Qu’ran???
Christians say we’re trying to understand God’s nature which is beyond the capability of our human brains. However, the concept of the triune god is a fundamental part of Christianity.
Yeah true. No one can understand the true nature of God, IF HE didn’t show it to us!
St. Augustine was once trying to explain the Trinity. He was walking on a beach thinking about this difficult part of our faith. He noticed a small child running from the ocean back up the beach. He had a bucket and was taking water from the ocean and pouring it into a hole in the sand. St. Augustine stood there for a moment and asked the boy what he was doing. The boy responded that he was trying to pour all the water in the ocean into this hole. St. Augustine responded that it was impossible. The small boy changed his composure and became the young Christ Child and said, “It would be easier for me to get all the water of the world’s oceans into this small hole than for you to explain the reality of the Blessed Trinity.” The child Jesus disappeared and St. Augustine gave up his quest.

We should focus on the gift that this Trinity is for us. God is the powerful creator of the universe. For some the image of God the Father can seem to far away from us as humans. The power of the Father is tempered by the reality of God present in our world as God the Son. He knows our weakness because He experienced them just like you and I, as a human. Finally, we can rest easy because not only does God understand our human condition, He is always there to help us with God the Holy Spirit. When we feel lost and alone we can turn to God and know that His Spirit is there waiting to fill our hearts and minds with His love. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are there to help us live in God’s love and to strengthen us for the difficulties of life.

The Trinity Is NOT The Problem !!! The Trinity Is The Solution !!!
Can you be a Christian without believing in the trinity?
No.
It’s like You are Muslim and don’t believe that Mohammad is The messenger of Allah.
If the answer is “NO”
NO.
then God according to you is demanding we believe in something which we can’t understand.
No one can understand The True Nature of God !!! Not even a Muslim can !!! It’s beyond our limited understandings!!
If we as humans with all our technology we barely know like 1 % of the true universe, and all other things are just theories like the big bang and others…
If the universe was created by God and barely understand it, are you saying that we can understand God who create it?
How can you understand God if he didn’t revealed his true nature to you??
Your god is an unjust god because he placed us in a catch-22 situation by creating in us the faculty of intelligence and higher thought, yet he demands we believe in something we can’t intelligently understand.
catch-22 situation ???

OK, I’m gonna ask a question based of the same logic u used,
The universe, and how was created, and how many stars and planets and galaxies…etc, is beyond what our intelligence can understand, so can we believe in an universe like that?

Speaking about Unjust god, is my god who saved me from my sins and gave eternal life because he love me the one who is Unjust, or your god who wanna send each Muslim to hell is the Unjust?

Famdigy,

You are doing the same thing you are telling Mr Reilly not to do. You cannot make declarations about Christianity because you do not understand it and are working with corrupt or distorted or false accusations. Every time Muslims try to explain to us our Bible, we see an inherent misunderstanding of what Christianity is.

You say the Holy Trinity comprises of 3 physical parts. Only one is physical and also divine and that is Christ…the Heavenly Father created the physical universe through the divine/physical aspect of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the one who abolished the Sinai Covenant and became the New Covenant. Moses threw down the tablets containing the 10 Commandments when people turned away from God and were worshipping an extension of their passions – the golden calf. So the Law was already broken before the Jews even entered the Promised Land.

But nevertheless, God chose them to bring forth the Messiah, even though there were other peoples in those times who were also monotheistic–believing in one God.

Islam is the religion of nomadic tribes of the Middle East. You have a very different mindset and interpretation and live in a part of the world that is very different from ours. Your faith history is outside of Judaism. But you are nevertheless, the sons and daughters of Ishmael and part of Abraham’s seed.

I do admire the profound devotion of Muslims to Allah and fidelity to prayer.

But it is outside Judeo-Christian construct.

Just as Christ called the 12 apostles, He also called Saul who was persecuting and killing Christians. The Lord struck him down, spoke to Him…why did he persecute Him in us…and named him Paul. The apostles, who were also chosen directly by Christ, recognized the same witness and presence of Christ in Paul and accepted him.

But it is Jesus Christ Who is the living cornerstone, who replaced and fulfilled the 10 commandments, the Covenant of Sinai and all the rules of Judaism…who died for all of us and was resurrected on the third day, breaking the power not only of sin, but of death. The twelve apostles set up churches in various parts of the world, St. Peter for a while worked among the Jews as did St. James the Lesser. St. Peter was led to Rome by the Holy Spirit, and that location was to become the new seat of Christianity in the Eternal City, at that time the center as well of evil and serving the flesh and slavery. Christ chose Rome to prove His power to eventually defeat the power of the world.

St. Paul was sent to the Gentiles. He simply reminded St. Peter of his own dream that we are made new creatures in Christ…Peter was trying to appease the Jews regarding circumcision. That is all.

St. Paul teaches us the same Christ and in the same Spirit and in context of the same God and in the same fulfillment of the Word of God. If we saw something different in him, he would had his last word the day he died and had been forgotten.

The sarcophogas of SS Peter and Paul are not conclusive, but they are in the process of being scientifically identified as the same people, their remains found at the Vatican…

Please do not tell us strange stories. Anyone who knows history and what makes verifiable and documentable history knows this. This ahistorical convictions is an ongoing problem with Islam, just as the Umayyids made claims to a rock in Jerusalem as being the altar of Abraham when it was not to build a mosque in the holiest of Jewish and Christian places.

The other point is why don’t the Muslims see we respect your sacred places…again another problem in the lack of reason and common humanity.

The Muslim Hijacking of Ground Zero

“Islam does not just destroy bodies, it destroys souls. It plots to rob entire peoples of their culture, their history and their identity. In order to make them into Muslims or Dhimmis, slaves of Muslims. Mohammed began the process by taking the existing belief systems in the region, combining them into a distorted ideology that he called Islam, which gave him the power to do anything he wanted, that exploded into massacres, ethnic cleansing and a wave of brutality and conquest that covered the globe. But the armies of Islam did not just kill or enslave, they robbed their victims of their culture and history-- and replaced it with Islam. Ground Zero is their target once more. A hijacking not of planes, but of memory. And their targets are no longer just 3,000 people-- but us all.”
