Hi everyone,

I am new here and I am hoping I am posting in the correct place.

My problem is I have been unemployed for a while now. I am grateful that financially, I will still be ok for a few months but I do need to look at the reality of the situation and get work soon.

I want to trust God is bigger than my problems and He has a plan for my life. When I have my nose in a Catholic/Christian self help book, it is easy to trust. But the second I try to do something else with my day (especially look for a job), is when I get scared.

I get down on myself and don’t believe I am good. (Satan’s lies can seem so real at times). Or I beat myself up for acting like a babbling idiot on an interview. I have done a lot of career counscelling and from experience I have learnt the hard way what impresses one interviewer does not impress the next one.

I want to be able to look back at my life and see the good God is doing right now. But it just makes no sense at this point in my life. Getting my education was a BIG struggle and I though that I would be able to look back at that part of my life and see how it lead me to a fulfilling career. But all I see is a big struggle for being unemployed that seems fruitless.

I don’t want career couscelling, there are plenty of other websites for that. I want ‘how to trust Jesus’ counscelling which is why I am here.

What makes it hard is the friends I have at church I can not talk about this to. They just say cruel comments. It is a sad contradiction because a lot of these friends are devout Catholics with large families. But yet, there is this underlying competition to have the best career. My heart bleeds for some of my friend’s children because the pressure put on them to excel at school and extra currirular activities is so strong, I doubt they would have any sympathy for me who is down on her luck right now.

Please pray for me. It gets lonely at lot lately

Angie

Angie, my prayers are with you for these difficult times you are going through.

Traditional version:
Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

that doesn’t surprise me 😦

I will say prayers for you.

I, too, went through a period of self doubt. Pray for the intercession of St. Michael, it worked wonders for me! Good luck!

Why doesn’t it surprise you? I would have though they would be more inclined to have their kids follow God’s will. It apears they want their kids to have the seccular definition of success

To me at least, it wouldn’t be very much of a surprise because outside appearances can be very deceptive.

Angie, I feel for you, I really do. I have been unemplyed myself for some time now and one moment I will feel really good and optomistic but then I start applying for jobs and I feel down and pessamistic that I will never find employment.
You are in my prayers.

Are you saying that their outside appearance of being Catholic is deceptive and it is normal they expect a lot of their kids? I am very confused about your point

I’m saying there are a lot of hypocrites in the world.

I know how you feel. I myself am unemployed and I can definitely say, it’s been a roller coaster ride.

I will pray for the both of us.

Have you tried saying a novena to St. Jose Maria Escriva?

Hi Angie, when you next take out your Job Folder with your Resume/C.V and References, I would pop in one of Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus’ Holy Cards, Her Miracle Medallion, or Jesus’ Crucifix/Holy Cross in one of the clear plastic sleeves for Interviews. Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus advocates Blessed Holy Images, Holy Crosses, and Holy Cards featuring Jesus and Her Divine Holiness.

With the exception of two positions, all other job positions were offered to me over a 30 year period, and ALL the Glory, Credit and Thanks are to God, The Holy Spirit, Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother for Their Most Holy, Loving Wisdom and Guidance knowing all of the Holy (Literal) tips to secure jobs, one of those being the placement of Representation of Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus in my Folder and mentally Blessing each building upon entry to Interviews along with Prayers offering up to Jesus His Will for each position.

These are not boasting paragraphs (refer to the above Praise to God).

In addition, I was blessed to be residing in a country with a smaller population, strong tax system, a volume of employment opportunities, and this is one of the reasons I love assisting others to find work, after having been Blessed repetitively by God, The Holy Spirit, Jesus and Our Lady Mary Mother.

Offer up Your temporary Cross to Jesus being unemployed on the odd occasion I have, and with any other Crosses I have had to bear during my life. Trust and Believe in Jesus! He will bless you with a job (when you least expect it)!

AMEN! I Will do this too. I broke my leg during my searching for a job. unexpected job loss was a hard blow… I’m in recovery, and I am so grateful for seeing this post!
