It would be against Christian faith and apologetics to allow someone to purposely violate the Catholic canon law. That, in our Bible, is like allowing someone to fall off the deep end and saying that you loved him/her. If you truly loved someone, you would tell them the truth as God expected you to, without judging (since that is God’s job).
I am not judging your church. I know very little about it, but I know it is not Catholic. What you have stated speaks very little about living a Christian life which is our duty as baptized Christians (I assume you are baptized since you were raised Catholic). Just allowing someone to live a “good life full of happiness and joy” does not speak of the true love of a brother. It appears they are missing something, because they don’t have God. Now, I understand that you are non-denominational, and you probably have Christians within your church, but Jesus created the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church by setting St. Peter as the first Pope. That Church is still alive today.
Just granting a person the right to live a life that they choose is not enough. Each and every one of us is called by God to follow Jesus. Do you have questions about the faith that we could answer? May I ask why you left?
I hope this helps. Let me know if there are any questions I can answer as I have studied Catholic apologetics when I came back to the Church.
May God bless you!

You are right that we are all equals, and it’s good that you don’t judge another, but what law are you following? Civil law? Christian law? Following Christian law is the best choice because it encompasses civil law. Following civil law and forgetting Christian law is a mistake. I remember a quote in Scripture that says, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and give to God what is God’s.” You may pay your taxes, follow speed limits, not murder anyone, etc. I did all this for years before I found my true Catholic faith. God encompasses all. If you are a true follower of Scripture and what the Church decrees, then you won’t break any law.We believe that we are all equals under the same universe and never judge another for the way they choose to live their life as long as they break no laws or infringe on the rights of others then so be it.
I hope this helps. Let me know if there are any questions I can answer as I have studied Catholic apologetics when I came back to the Church.
