Here is another university that I won’t send my kids to. Here is their definition of racist:

“A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. ‘The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination….’”

Its pretty easy to tell the author of this definition has a political agenda.
It seems to me that this statement is inherently racist as it discriminates against a certain groups of people (caucasian) based solely on their race. Or is my logic faulty?

No, your logic is just fine. And yes, it is racist against caucasians.

Is that even possible—racist against caucasians?
I thought everyone else was protected from this but us (meaning whites)

The one thing I’d say is that by the definition used his term for racist is exclusive of the definition you used racist. It really seems though logically I don’t know if his definition would actually apply to the US. It’s a bit hard to say that the US is based on a white supremacist system. That might have been the case in the Old South, but today so many influences have been folded into what makes the system today. A capitalistic system is a bit too free flowing. Everyone has power over their own micro system. Some may have more control than others, but not that much to say it’s only controlled to the point where it could be white supremacist, nor to the point where other people of color cannot influence it. One would really have to be in a truly real fascist system.

I think I should also make a point that even if one is inferior in some type of way to another, doesn’t necessarily mean that the person doesn’t have power. I learned that lesson early on, being four years younger than my older brother, I still knew how to manipulate a situation to get him in trouble. Gandhi knew how to manipulate the system. Besides being passive-aggressive can be as effective as being aggressive, though the tactic may be used differently and for different effect.

Not true, since I’m white and not racist, makes it sound like we all have the original sin of racism stamped on us though, which isn’t true because there are many non-whites with better paid jobs than mine and a higher education.
And I don’t resent them, good luck to them and whatever makes them tick.

It is like saying that all men are mysogonists and male chauvinists and no women are capable of being…

Wait a minute! Our society does say that! There isn’t even a female equivalent to male chauvinist. That means women can’t be prejudiced!

The female equivalent of “misogynist” (“one who hates womwn”) is misandrist (“one who hates men”). To use it in sentence, "Unlike the early feminist movement which lead the women getting the vote in the 1920s, the modern feminist movement is now wholly misandrist.

When was that word coined? I don’t have access to an etymological dictionary right now and am curious. My hypothesis is sometime in recent years out of response to the feminist movement.

Our language is shaped by our culture. Pretty soon there will be a word that specifically means a racial minority person having a hatred for those in the racial majority if people like the one who wrote that “definition” keep pushing their agendas. He or she is going to end up doing more harm to minorities than anything if the idea takes off.

Looks like the University is scrambling and spinning on this one
University ‘indoctrination’ plans dropped!
Prez says: ‘I have directed that the program be stopped immediately’
University of Delaware officials, who just a day earlier had defended a residence hall series of teachings on which WND reported that told students “all whites are racists,” today announced the program is being stopped.
“While I believe that recent press accounts misrepresent the purpose of the residential life program at the University of Delaware, there are questions about its practices that must be addressed and there are reasons for concern that the actual purpose is not being fulfilled. It is not feasible to evaluate these issues without a full and broad-based review,” said a statement posted on the school’s website by President Patrick Harker.

When I first read this thread and saw the news link I had to hold my breath as several people here have said that World Net Daily news can make very inflammatory headlines. However a simple Google News search shows many news sites confirming this outrageous news

I ran into this nonsense back in the '70s during mandatory “race relations” classes in the Air Force. The classes themselves were actually quite good and useful, and we were all learning from each other, until the instructor, a black NCO, put forth as fact the proposition that he had been taught in his training, namely, that blacks by definition could not be racists. He almost literally got shouted down. It was fairly good-natured, but it was a shouting-down.

My contribution to his re-education was a hypothetical situation of a white bass player who loved R&B music and wanted to audition for a band (all black) that needed a bassist, but could not, because he was white. Reginald Denny (who was probably in grade school at this time) is another good example. People who deny the existence of racism in ALL cultures and races have their heads stuck somewhere where the flow of information has been cut off. That’s the politest way I can think of to say that.
