I agree with you. I’ve been going to the TLM since Bishop Olmstead gave permission here. The differences are striking aesthetically. I’ve never been to a Pontifical Mass before. I’ll bet that was a real treat.
One thing I’ll disagree with you on is the title for the revised missal of Pope Paul VI. When speaking about it he did indeed use the phrase novus ordo missae, but this was never intended as an official name for the revised missal. It is simply latin for new order of the mass. The Dominicans and Carthusians used to have a different ordo missae/order of the mass than the Roman ordo missae. So one could speak of a Dominican order of the mass and a Carthusian order of the mass. The official title of the Missal promulgated by Pope Paul VI would be: Missale Romanum. Now I don’t have a copy of the original revision, but the current ordo missae is titled ***Missale romanum ****ex decreto Sacrosancti Oecumenici Concilii Vaticani II instauratum, auctoritate Pauli PP. VI promulgatum, Ioannis Pauli PP. II cura recognitum, editio typica tertia. *Most of us would refer to it short hand as Missale Romanum, editio typica tertia.
