im feeling low and i dont knw really what do? i feel so hopeless at this point in time. ive been praying to God asking him to give me the strenght to go through this situation. i have feelings for my guyfriend and he doesnt feel the same for me

has anyone been in this situation? do u still think abt that person? are u still in contact with them

I had a crush on a good friend when I was about 12 or so, she didn’t return the feeling. Actually, to say it was a crush is probably underselling it, it was extremely strong. I know that at that age, boys tend to be very concerned with the physical but it wasn’t really a physical thing for me. She was homely looking, certainly not a beauty but there was just something more to her. I thought about her for years, she had some kind of power over me in that whatever she said was suddenly interesting to me, whatever she did… I wanted to try to, just a complete infatuation.

These days, we’re friends on facebook, nothing more, nothing less. Once a year, maybe twice a year she crosses my mind. But I’m married now, and the love I have for my wife far exceeds that unrequited love I had for her.

I bet your story will have a happy ending, too. 👍

We’ve all been there! These experiences help you learn how to love and I have learned that you never want to be in a relationship with someone that hasn’t had their heart broken. Now for the really important part, you have to learn the word - NEXT!!! The shortest way to say, move on!

When I was in my late 20s I was in a relationship with a man whom I really loved (or thought I did, and turned out for all the wrong reasons). I ended the relationship because his behaviors were unacceptable. For months, I was actually in a state of emotional turmoil. I kept thinking of a date, arbitrary one I chose, when the intense pain would be no more or at least be minimized. That date came. That pain was minimized. Three years later I had the opportunity to “renew” this relationship. I couldn’t wait to get out of that guy’s company. LOL.

This, too, shall pass. God has great plans for you. Your worth and value is so enormous. Many relationships will falter and even fail (even friendships), has nothing to do with your value and purpose in life. Keep going, little sister.

Unrequited love? The ultimate example would be Jesus who loved this world but the world hated him and many continue to hate him (Freedom from Religion Foundation and ACLU for instance)😦

I don’t know if this would work for you, but I have used this rationalization in the past.
Think about every negative trait/quality of that person. Then, tell yourself you are not missing out on as much as seems so. This is a good way of tricking your mind out of the sadness.

And, prayer for God to bring you the person that He wants for you. Apparently, this ‘non-interested guyfriend’ of yours, is not the ‘one’ God wants for you. 🙂

Lord, I offer you this day with gratitude and praise. You know my heart’s desires and my longing to be with someone who would love me, and in turn, I could love with my whole being. Despite my own choice, I dedicate my heart to you Lord and I affirm that to be pleasing to you is my life goal. I surrender to you my heart and I offer it to you in full submission, obedience and trust that you will give me that person who will help me fulfill my purpose in life which is to be Christ-like. Lead me towards that person Lord, and bestow on me the grace of the Holy Spirit so that as I walk towards that path that leads me to the right person, I will be molded into someone who is also capable of leading him towards a life with you at its center. I pray this with humility and acceptance that your will is sovereign, and with full, child-like trust that you will take care of me so that ultimately I will be led towards you and your Kingdom. Amen.

And I found this blog which is similar to your situation, you are not alone:

Blessings to you! Offer your suffering up to God for someone else that needs help, doing this makes me feel better as well.

Maybe this person who dumped you might not be a person who would lead you to heaven if you stayed with him/her. That is really the most important thing with any relationship, whether romantic, friendship or whatever.

Let him go you’ll be much happier and if a guy isn’t into you he never will be so spare yourself the agony.

My advice is to not depend on any one person’s feelings as a means for your happiness. Your heart is restless until it rests in God. If you depend on God and make it known to Him that you desire to find your soulmate or to have a family, it will happen if Jesus remains the focal point, the pinnacle of your own love. Love God interestedly and love others disinterestedly, that is appreciate each person because they are who they are and you will have peace of heart and mind, because ultimately we are all individual proofs of God.

Hope that helps!

God bless,

AndrewJoseph

I am a unmarried man in my mid twenties. Unrequited love is part of the story of my life :o I have been in your situation with women many times. One thing I have learned about it all is that time heals. You get over people. There is nothing we can do about it when you like someone and they don’t feel the same way about you. The only option is to get over them.

I still think about times in the past where I liked someone who did not feel the same about me. Although I am completely over the person, the memory can still hurt. Especially since I feel this way right now about a woman. I think about her a lot but I try to cut myself off when I can. I am not really in contact with this woman at this time. I contact her every couple months or so just to say hi but I think that should stop because staying in contact with her is obviously more important to me than it is to her.

I pray, I tell our Lord how I feel when I would like to tell someone how I feel but I wont talk about these things with other people. Not even friends. I am too macho to talk about my hurt feelings 😛 But I know my Lord understands. Time will heal. Same with you! Tell our Lord how you feel. Know that you are not alone in the way you feel and give it time. God bless. 🙂

the only reason why u must be stayin in contact with her is because you care for her alot and the same case is with me. but down the line if i will keep in touch with him i dont really knw for sure. even if i do i will have to maintain a distance. Its been a week i havent spoken to him and im missing him alot already.

thanks for the blog … ive been trying to do what u have told me to do.

I’m probably not the best person to give out advice on this topic, but I’m sort of in this situation right now. I like a guy but haven’t told him, he likes someone else but hasn’t told her, and she’s in a relationship already. We’re both totally smitten with our respective crushes, but we don’t want to be jerks… So we’re just waiting right now, hoping that something will change. :o

In the mean time, I have lots of other stuff to think about. It’s finals time! There are projects to hand in! My mom is in the hospital! My friends want to play RPG’s with me! There are books to read! Stories to write! Pictures to draw! Languages to learn!

I’m still talking to him, sure. But I have lots of other things on my plate that can keep my mind off of him until I either grow out of it or the situation changes. I suggest that you look to God and ask him to fill up the emptiness you may feel. And then focus on the other amazing things that are going on in your life. I’m sure there are lots of other things that need your attention right now. 😛

I don’t know if this applies to you, but when I was young, I used to tend to ‘idealise’ people (and things and conversely, could ‘demonise’ people and things as well.)

You know how life lessons can come to you via strange sources? Well when I went to buy my first home, we had a good old fashioned ethical agent who recognised something I tended to do and gave some advice. She said there is a phenomenon that happens to some people when they start house hunting. They’ll find a house that has a few good qualities and there is a sudden rush of ‘love’ for it. You get the sensation that this is the only house that is right for you. You feel that no other house is ever going to match this one and if you let it go, you’re life will never be as good as it should be. It drives a buyer to be impulsive and thoughtless about their purchase and to perhaps forgo the opportunities that come with making discerning and measured choices based on the good traits of the many other houses that there are for sale.

Anyway, this turned out to speak to me on a grander scale than our house hunt and I’ve never forgotten that this is a phenomenon I can tend to fall prey to in a lot of areas of my life, including relationships with people.

Regardless of whether one has love and feelings for another person (and not reciprocated or reciprocated); this is the most beautiful thing a Soul can go through to know that they have and more importantly are able to ‘feel’ Love in their Hearts and Souls that Jesus wants for every one of His Children!

I have loved people in my life unconditionally where it was not reciprocated and never once acknowledged or questioned this until my late 40’s. I gave out my love through actions and words, never expecting or wishing for it to be reciprocated until the day arrived when I realised that there are so many ways in which people “Love” and/or are able to “Love”; this came about through my Healing process over the past couple of years praying Jesus’ Holy Rosaries. And…never taking personally another person’s inability to reciprocate “Love” as everyone has issues and childhood matters to resolve in their lives, during their own journeys. Jesus has someone out there waiting for you; why not pray to Him and leave your Union with the ‘right’ person in Jesus Hands!

With comprehension arrived understanding; knowing that if no-one else “loves” me the way in which I “love” them and have “loved” them; it is irrelevant given that I Love Jesus, God and The Holy Spirit (as One) and Our Lady Mary Mother of Jesus; and that He Loves me! Unconditionally! In every way!

One person I used to know defined depression as “feeling lower than a snake’s belly in a wagon-rut”.

Tennyson combined some of the highest language mastery with depression in a life-long struggle.

I heard that Mother Teresa experienced a depression that lasted most of her life. Interesting to know how she ever got anything done!🤷

Yes. I have been there and it really hurts to love someone who does not reciprocate that love. It took me many years to reconcile my feelings. I tried to turn it to good and offer up the whole thing in union with Jesus who agonized in love for those who would not reciprocate His love. I eventually had to let go, completely, and that was very difficult but I united that to Jesus’ suffering too. He has had to “let go” and let people go their own way and it is very painful for Him too.
