A Catholicism instructor fired from the the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for saying he agrees with the church’s teaching that homosexual sex is immoral has been reinstated.
The uni did not apologise or admit that it had done any thing wrong.
They are allowing the former Professor him to return to lecturing as an ex gratia concession, as if they are being extraordinarily generous to him beyond the requirments of the law.
He is appointed only as a visiting lecturer not as a Professor.
They still hold the “review” over him as a sword of Damocles threatening to sack him if he “offends” again.
What of the universally acknowledged right of university professors to permnanent tenure?
