So for the indulgence you receive at the Urbi et Orbi like a normal indulgence the requirements are to have confession, receive communion on the same day, pray for the Popes intentions and watch/take part in this blessing - my question is however I can’t get to Mass on Christmas Day, I went last night to “Midnight” Mass but it finished at 11pm so I couldn’t receive communion on the 25th do I still fulfill the requirements for the indulgence?
The Eucharistic Communion does not have to be on the same day, it is fitting, however.
(From Manual of Indulgences, USCCB, 2006), p. 18, p. 47.
Norm 20.3: The three conditions **[sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, and prayer for the intention of the Sovereign Pontiff] **may be fulfilled several days before or after the performance of the prescribed work; it is, however, fitting that Communion be received and the prayer for the intention of the Holy Father be said on the same day the work is performed.
