Part of living away from home when you’re in college is learning how to effectively handle conflicts in a mature fashion. Throwing out your roommates’ liquor is not the mature way of handling it.
I’ve lived with plenty of roommates participating in “questionable activitiesr” that even my mere association with them would put my future career in jeopardy.
The worst I had was a group of partying girls who liked to get waste and go to the strip clubs. They’d line up their empties on the cupboard tops as if hey were trophies, and hang the posters they got from the strip clubs of naked women all over the livingroom walls. They were even visible from the walkway so, anyone walking by could see them. (Did I mention my future employer does surprise house visits during their background investigations?), oh and bringing guys home from the bar and having conjugal relations with them.
I suggest re-reading (you did read it before signing it, right? You wouldn’t sign a legal document without knowing what it said, would you?) the rent agreement you signed when you moved in. It will state any prohibited activities. Underaged drinking seems to be rather serious in the US (in Canada, you might get a fine if you act like a jerk to the police), so it’s likely to be prohibited, even if it’s just classified generally under “no illegal activities.” While the behaviour is likely not going to stop, what they’re doing does give you grounds to be reassigned to live some place else.
You need to talk to whomever is in charge of Rez and request a transfer to a different living arrangement and articulate why without quoting Bible verses. Their behaviour is disrupting your studies. They’re participating in illegal activities, and you do not want to be associated with people such as that. (You can actually be charged if they’re caught by the police and you’re around them. It’s called “guilty by association.” It’s a common charge in Canada at parties. Also, your living arrangements and roommates can affect your career choice. All of my roommates will be checked by the police, and visited during my background investigation for employment. I have to account for what steps I took to rectify my bad girl lifestyle roommates)
Because I lived in Rez at school, the administration had an obligation to get involved. I was moved, and the girls had to remove all of their sexual posters and quit bringing guys home. To make sure they complied, they housed a couple police training female recruits with them.(It was good timing. There was another session of police recruit training starting.) They cleaned up their act and matured. One even completely stopped drinking. The other one cleaned up her act after she got pregnant, but still. The end results were good.
