Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, Bob, for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy, that, with his bodily health restored, he may give thanks to Thee in Thy church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

An Eastern Catholic Prayer For Bob

Prayer in the Time of Illness
(This prayer is meant for us when we are ill, I changed the words to be for Bob, and those words are in ( ).

**
O Lord our God, your word alone healed chronic and physical diseases. You also cured the mother-in-law of Peter of her fever. Even when You chastise, ou do so with compassion. Because of your goodness, You can banish every sickness and infirmity. O Lord, relieve (Bob), your servant, of (his) ailment; cure (him) of the sickness that afflicts (him). In your mercy, raise (him) from (his) sick bed; grant (him) health and a complete recovery. For You are the physician of our souls and bodies, and we give glory to You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever. Amen.**

God bless and keep Bob…may His divine mercy comfort him as he goes through this struggle.

HOpe someone is monitoring this thread for the Geez and sharing with him the good wishes and prayers going up for him from all quarters.

Hurry back, Geez! If you’ve made it this far, you’re likely to do very well!

geezerbob:
Many thanks to all for the ecards, calls, and prayers.

I had a stent put in yesterday after a long exploratory cath. Once the drugs wore off, I started feeling much better and was released this morning with pages and pages of instructions and more prescriptions than I can afford. I’m still weak, so my individual acknowledgments will have to wait a day or two.

My son took me to Shoney’s for some real food (I lost 6 pounds in 4 days on hospital food, eating all of everything I was sent, including stuff I normally wouldn’t touch), then to Wally’s to get prescriptions filled, and finally home. I’m now ready to rest for a while, then update local friends and family and get myself mentally prepared for the onslaught of people, so I probably won’t be back on line until this evening or tomorrow morning. Will try to get caught up with everyone then.

Again, thanks to all for your prayers. They were definitely heard, as evidenced by the fact that I’m home already.
Keep those prayers coming.

Best regards to the Geez! He’ll be bouncin’ with the best of 'em in no time!

Update: I had a stent installed yesterday and am back at home for a few more days of bed rest. Thanks to all for your prayers and e-cards.

Yes, I did receive one that was addressed to “geezerbob.” My full name has always been in my signature, though, but the volunteer figured out where it went and brought it to me yesterday afternoon.

For you dieters, I lost 6 pounds in four days eating all the hospital food they sent me, plus a Chic Fil A, some ice cream, and a few other goodies that were smuggled in.

I have a question for all you medical types out there. You cannot order salt from the hospital kitchen, no matter what unit you’re in. At the same time, they see nothing wrong with hanging a liter bag of saline solution on the rack and injecting it directly into your veins. God never intended for man to eat unsalted grits (double yuck) and I was sorely tempted to run and ounce of that salt water into my bowl of grits to flavor them. Why do they do contradictory things like that?

Back to bed for now. I should be operating at about 50% capacity by Saturday. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers.
