Update for this morning on my Uncle Joe. From his sister and my Aunt Lillie.

I just talked to Nina this morning, and the TEE test came back with the infection on the valve being larger. The doctors are to come in to talk to her at 11:00 a.m. about surgery. I will not be sending more emails for a while because I will probably be going up to the hospital in the next hour or so.

**" Update as of 2:01 p.m. - Uncle Joe has been taken in to have a cathorization test done on his heart, it’s the test where they send a wire up a vein in his leg to check his arteries.

Here is the latest on My Uncle Joe through and email sent to me by my Aunt Lillie his and my mothers sister.

I spoke to Nina this morning. Joe is scheduled for heart surgery Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. He will be in a different building, and you will want to call to get directions as to where to park.

He had the heart catherization yesterday which was clear. They did the test to be sure there weren’t some other problems when they did the surgery. He also had an MRI but I don’t think they have talked to Nina about it yet. Theresa, Florin, Sr. Anna Marie, Melissa, and Sissy were able to all be in the room last night and pray for him.

He and Sissy have this thing with signs that began when Sissy came home from Iraq or wherever she had been stationed. Nina said that they have been exchanging signs since then (Sissy thinks she is Uncle Joe’s favorite niece) for Christmas and other times. When Sissy married Mark, he made a sign for Sissy and for Mark and Zach. Sissy asked Joe why was that and he said he thought they needed to be included. Anyway she brought a sign and I think she said it was supposed to be 3 angels. Nina said it looked something like 3 eggs. One was in pink and the others were not colored. Nina asked what the sign meant and was told that the pink one was Sissy and the other 2 were Mark and Zach and they were naked.

While they were there, it appeared that Joe was trying to wink his left eye every so often. She told Joe that it was not fair if he was trying to wink at Sissy when he had not done anything like that before.

Anyway, over night he had a little fribrilation or something with his heart but that evened out. He has opened his eyes some. When the doctors talked to him they would tell him to open his eyes and he did although he immediately would shut them. He is not moving his leg as much as he had been. I think he is putting all his effort in trying to open his eyes.

Please continue to pray for Joe. One of the things that they are trying to do is grow the culture of the bacteria that is on the end of the mitral valve. The reason is so that they can use it against itself. Presently when the valve opens and closes, it is sloughing off the bacteria into Joe’s bloodstream.

So, I have another prayer that has been shared with me. Or anyway, it is kind of paraphrasing.

Heavenly Father we ask that you bless Joe with super antibodies that will go against that bacteria. Also, we ask that you trap that bacteria in such a way that it is not able to get into the blood stream and cause any harm. And if it does get into the bloodstream that it is dissolved without any harm or clots going to the brain, the lungs, or any other area, and without causing any damage. Father, you know what I mean, and you know what needs to be done. And, Heavenly Father, you are better able to do whatever needs to be done without my telling you how to do it, and I certainly don’t want to limit you by my words in any way. I know that Joe is in your will and that your will be done. We ask that you have mercy on him and on all of us.

I further ask that you guide the surgeons and all their team, the anesthesiologist, etc. in their surgery. We ask that no harm come to Joe from any of the medications they are using and will use in Joe’s treatment.

Joe has had a stroke and it seems to have affected his muscle strength. The tests that he has had showed that he has an infection in the mycral valve (not sure if this is right anyway it starts with an M) in his heart. He is going to have to have some rehab and then the doctors were asking about help, and Nina said she and the family would work something out.

I didn’t hear anything further until this evening. It seems that Joe is not doing very well. He has been sleeping, or possibly in a coma since midnight last night. They haven’t been able to revive him. Nina said they were even beating on him trying to get him to respond. This evening they were going to do another MRI on his brain I think. And there is talk about surgery on the heart.

Aunt Theresa and Aunt Margaret, his sisters,were at the hospital today, and Uncle Edwin and Uncle Paul, his brothers, were going to try to go see him this evening. Nina said they might not be able to see him if they are doing the testing.

Yes, we all need to pray for him.

Lord God, heavenly Father we ask that you touch Joe with your healing touch. We ask that you remove any blockages to his responding. We also ask that your blood that Joe received in Holy Communion course to every cell of his body, and especially his heart and brain. Lord we ask that your will be done in Joe. Bless Nina and all their family with your comfort and peace. We also come against any spirit of fear that may be in the hospital room right now. We bind it and tell it to be gone in the Name of Jesus and to go to the nearest Catholic Church tabernacle for Jesus to do away with. And also, we come against the spirit of death and bind it and tell it to leave Joe’s room and go to the nearest Catholic Church tabernacle for Jesus to deal with, without any harm to any else in passing. Lord God, you know how Joe loved you and tried to do your will. We also ask for your forgiveness of any of his sins for which he should repent. We ask again that you bless him with your healing, your peace, your joy in the wonderful Name of Jesus Christ. And we ask that the Holy Spirit seal the empty places and fill it so the spirits can not come back. We ask all of this in Jesus name. Here is the latest that I have on my Uncle Joe via email from his sister and my Aunt Lillie.
This is what happened on Monday.

Surgery on Joe’s heart began about 8:53 a.m. The nurse came out and
said everything was going fine. It is expected that surgery will take
approximately 6 hours. Many of our family members are there. Theresa
and I plan to go this afternoon after she gets off work.

I will update whenever I receive any word. Thank you all for your many
prayers. I know that God is doing his part, so we need to do ours and
continue to keep Joe, the doctors and surgical team, Nina and all our
family members and friends in our prayers. May God continue to bless
you all with love, peace, joy, and good health and healing spiritually,
physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as it was in the

Surgery was started at about 8:53 a.m. At 12:10, the doctors were
working on cleaning out the infection and replacing the valve. Joe’s
vital signs are still good. Surgery should probably take another hour
or so. He is in the Heart Institute building. Nina said the doctors
have said that Joe will probably get worse for the next couple of days,
and then after that, he should begin improving.

Praise Report!! Praise God!!

Joe’s surgery was completed about 2:30 p.m. yesterday. His mytral valve
was replaced with a pig’s heart valve. The doctor said that the surgery
was ordinary and went very well.

When I was able to see Joe last night the nurse swabbed his mouth to
clean it, and Joe made a face, opened his eyes, seemed to be gagging,
probably from the swabbing and the anesthesia. I said the Our Father,
Hail Mary and Glory Be to God, and he settled down. Nina came in before
he closed his eyes again.

Nina said he seemed to rest during the night and that he opened his eyes
when the nurses came in to work with him. She said she rested well.

I just talked to Nina and she was visiting with a friend of the
sisters, a Dominican nun who lives at the same convent. She said that
Joe just opens his eyes and moves his hand when he appears to be
hurting. The doctor said that if it was just his heart, he would
probably be able to go home in 2 or 3 days, but since it’s not, they
will be talking about sending him to TIER (?) rehab.

Please let us thank God for the successful surgery and continuing
praying that his brain will clear and that the strokes will not hinder
him for very long and that he will soon have a successful recovery.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have brother Joe in the palm of
your hand and that your will is being done in his recovery. We thank
you for Your Son Jesus’, the Holy Spirit’s, and your Blessed Mother’s
and all your angels and saints participation in this. We praise you and
honor you and give you thanks for what you have done and are doing for
Joe, our families, our prayer partners, and all of our friends and their
families. Thank you for the peace, love, and joy that you are giving us
during this time.

Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit as it was in the
