US Bishop Change: Bridgeport, Connecticut

This morning the Holy See announced the decision of Pope Francis to name Bishop Frank Joseph Caggiano as Bishop of Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.

The diocese had been vacant since then-Bishop William Edward Lori was named Archbishop of Baltimore, Maryland in March 2012.

Bishop Caggiano had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn, New York.
 
My prays for the success of the new bishop of the my childhood diocese.
This diocese also includes Newtown Ct and their fantastic pastor, who has suffered greatly since the shootings.
 
After reading about the new bishop for the Diocese of Bridgeport, I was impressed. I’m wondering if Bishop Caggliano will become the Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, since the Knights of Columbus Headquarters is located in New Haven, which is in the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Currently, Archbishop Lori of Baltimore is the Supreme Knight. Prior to Lori’s appointment to Baltimore, Lori was the bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

I’m also praying for a bishop for my neighboring diocese - Fort Worth. The old bishop (Vann) did an excellent job there, and the attitude of many Catholics in Fort Worth (along with vocations) has increased exponentially, along with the support for Pro-Life Apostolates. Fort Worth has been vacant for nearly a year, so I hope Fort Worth is blessed to get another good solid bishop.

I am praying for a few priests that I know who IMHO I think have a chance at being selected by Pope Francis I for the vacant see of Fort Worth.

New Haven is in the Hartford arch-diocese.
 
Thanks for the clarification. I will remember that New Haven is in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The diocesan border between Bridgeport and New Haven must be fairly close.

I do know of an former editor for the Columbia who was recently ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Hartford.
