This morning the Holy See announced Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to accept the retirement of Bishop Raymundo Joseph Peña and to name Bishop Daniel Ernest Flores as the new Bishop of Brownsville, Texas, USA.
thanks, guess zenit hasn’t translated it yet, wish Detroit had waited until the announcement was made here, but oh well. this is the Valley we have our own time, maybe some parishes got the announcement at Mass yesterday we did not. Here is the official announcement (in Italian)
Its not on the Brownsville website yet, but it is on Detroit’s
He is a quiet, unassuming man. Really really thoughtful, in both senses of the word. Those of us from the Brownsville Diocese are hungering for news on our new bishop.
How is he as a homilist and preacher? As a liturgist?
Tell us…
I noticed that this article addressed him as “Monsignor Daniel Flores”finally made the local paper
themonitor.com/articles/pope-33326-bishop-vatican.html
we are blessed, he is one of our own
and my home diocese of Detroit is losing a good man I hope good bishop Vigneron soon gets another like him
The Monitor is a lousy newspaper. They have no quality control and their articles almost always have glaring errors in them. Of the major metropolitan dailies in Texas (Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman, El Paso Times, San Antonio Express-News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Corpus Christi Caller-Times, The Monitor and the Laredo Morning Times), the Monitor is by far the worst.I noticed that this article addressed him as “Monsignor Daniel Flores”
I don’t think they put their top notch reporter on this article![]()
You truly our blessed. Our loss is your gain. aodonline.org/AODOnline/News+++Publications+2203/Press+Releases+2303/2009+16871/FloresAnnouncement.htmwow, and I heard it hear first. we are blessed
can you please post a link to the news story, I can’t find it anywhere, thanks
It is bittersweet, indeed.OK, that sucks, that really, really sucks. I LOVE Bishop Flores![]()
You will not be disappointed. He is humble, open, and very, very, VERY faithful. Those of us from the Brownsville Diocese are hungering for news on our new bishop.
