US Bishop Change: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This morning the Holy See announced the decision of Pope Benedict XVI to accept the retirement of Bishop Robert Patrick Maginnis as Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

At the same time Bishop-elect John J. McIntyre was named as an Auxiliary Bishop of the same archdiocese with the titular see of Bononia.

In addition, Bishop-elect William Fey, O.F.M. Cap. (born in Pittsburgh, PA) was named Bishop of Kimbe, Papua New Guinea.

Hopefully, these new bishops will be along the lines of the other new bishops they’ve been naming lately, who are very faithful to the Church’s teachings and, for lack of a better term, have spines.
