US Bishop Changes: Amarillo

This morning the Holy Father accepted the retirement of Bishop John Walter Yanta and named Bishop Patrick James Zurek as the new Bishop of Amarillo, Texas, USA.

Bishop Zurek had been serving as an Auxiliary Bishop of San Antonio.

i grew up in the diocese of San Angelo, so am not familiar with either gentleman. But I wish them both many blessings!

I have been honored to know both of these bishops over the years. Both are dedicated servants of the Church and are good, holy bishops. Amarillo has been blessed with both.
