This morning the Holy See announced the decision of Pope Benedict XVI to name Bishop Joseph Patrick McFadden as the new Bishop of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA.
The diocese had been vacant since Bishop Kevin Carl Rhoades was named Bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana in November 2009.
Bishop McFadden had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia.
In addition, Bishop-elect Michael J. Fitzgerald was named Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and titular bishop of Tamallula.
