Bishop Thomas Anthony Daly was named Bishop of Spokane, Washington, USA.

The diocese had been vacant since then-Bishop Blase Joseph Cupich was named Archbishop of Chicago, Illinois in September 2014.

Bishop Daly had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of San Jose in California.

Bishop-elect John Stowe, O.F.M. Conv. was named Bishop of Lexington, Kentucky, USA.

The diocese had been vacant since Bishop Ronald William Gainer was named Bishop of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in January 2014.

This leaves only Superior, Wisconsin vacant in the USA. (Since November 2014 when Bishop Christensen was named Bishop of Boise City, Idaho.)

Does anyone know anything about Bishop Thomas Daly bishop of San Jose, who has just been named the new bishop of Spokane, WA?

Happy to see we’ve finally got a bishop! I don’t know anything about him, tho.

As far as Bishop Daly, I got the impression he is a solid bishop. I read yesterday that Archbishop Cordileone appointed Daly as interim rector at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, and Cordileone is a good bishop. I like what he is currently doing with the Catholic schools in his Archdiocese.

As far as Lexington, I think Bishop-elect Stowe will have some big shoes to fill. Gainer seems like a solid bishop. At 48 years old, it’s possible that if Stowe does a good job, he will be destined for a bigger See within the next several years.
