If only our bishops would spend as much time trying to influence and shepherd their flock to be faithful to the Church and all its teachings as it spends meddling in politics.

No problem, I’ll simply deduct my share of this welfare handout from that which would normally go to the Church or perhaps the Bishops would like to pick up the 35 billion dollar tab. I can’t afford to support every cause deemed worthy by the Bishops and the Church too. This is exactly why I contribute directly to those charities I know need my help rather than hand my contributions over to the the Bishop.

Considering the current state of disarray within the Church I think the Bishops have better ways to exert their energy than pushing these Social Justice scams.

Amen on both counts.

There is a certain prudence to this. Government benefits rely on forced donations if we had less government benefits we would have more people asking the Church for help. And the few people who show up are already asked to support a lot as it is.

I am all for giving people unemployment when they need it,and welfare as well, but doesn’t giving people money sort of defeat the purpose of working? If I’m going to get paid longer for doing nothing, then I’ll probably do nothing longer.
