US Bishops Visit Iraq, Urge Plan for Peaceful Future

WASHINGTON, D.C., OCT. 12, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Two leaders of the U.S. bishops have visited their brother prelates in Iraq, saying one of the most moving moments of the four-day tour was a stop at the Syrian Catholic church where 58 people were killed a year ago.

Bishop Gerald Kicanas of Tucson, Arizona, and Bishop George Murry, of Youngstown, Ohio, were in Baghdad from Oct. 2 to 5.

I am glad to see that our bishops are standing up for the Iraqi Christians. This is definitely good news.

Yes, this is most definitely a step in the right direction…the secular media of course has been silent on all the christian persecution going on in Iraq and throughout the world. They won’t touch it. All they want to do is Catholic bash and Christian bash in general. It will be up to us to somehow reach as many as possible about this persecution going on. As far as the secular media…it falls on deaf ears.

Oh and BTW…anyone in the Chicago area be sure to tune in to Channel 11 tonight, I believe at 8:00pm, but check your local listings…Fr. Barron will be on presenting his “Catholicism” series…now THIS ALSO is very good news!!! Some of the local channels might be accepting to things as this…I just love Fr. Barron! The Pope asked him several years back to be in charge of US Evangelization, and boy has he taken the ball and run with it!!! He is just exactly what the Church needs in this country. And Papa Benedict saw this in him.
