Well we can try to demonstrate to them why we’re right. I mean, instead of going “contraception is bad!” we should say "contraception is bad because…"
Reason is great, but it does not always work.

There are those who don’t want kids period and don’t want to do NFP and won’t listen.

Sometimes people are unreasonable, and no amount of reason will work with them.

We can plant the seeds, but only the Holy Spirit can do the conversion.

Do not worry about statistics and numbers, it is better to have fewer true Catholics than a large number of part-time cafeteria catholics.

"So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth." (Rev 3:16).

I have given up trying to make anything out of statistics when it comes to religion. Every tradition seems to have its own policies and practices regarding determining membership and participation that often seem to have no relevance to what is going on in the churches. For example, I know a priest in a small town where meatpacking became the principal industry about a decade ago. A large number of Latinos came to town to work. They are all Catholic. They go to church on Christmas and Easter and when they need a sacrament such as baptism, marriage, anointing of the sick, or need a mass of the Christian burial. They give little, because they have little to give. So, membership is up, activity, and contributions, down. Statistics don’t tell this story.
