US Postal Service Delaying Mail? Hogwash

The Democrats think the Postal Service is delaying mail which they think will cause problems with the mail in ballets for the upcoming Presidential Elections. If the Postal Service were (and they are not) delaying mail its solely because of the overwhelmly amount of packages we are delivering now. The Postal Service is not keeping up with the manpower and equipment needed to handle all the packages being ordered by Americans due to the pandemic.

Packages have been quadrupled (an estimate) since the pandemic started. Carriers have been working 10 hour plus days to get all the packages delivered. The reason for a possible call for “no overtime” is because the trucks, that carry the mail collected by carriers during the day, are delayed because they have to wait for the carriers to get back from their routes. The carriers are getting back to the office later because of all the packages they are delivering now. When the truck driver, carrying the mail collected for that day to the main distribution facility, is delayed, they are paid overtime. The carriers are paid extra also if they are brought back to the office to deliver more packages (after their regular 8 to 9 hour day).

Since the Postal Service is not getting paid a market rate for delivering alot of those packages then paying all that overtime becomes a problem for the organization. So know, the Postal Service is not intentional delaying mail because of political reasons. Believe it or not most of the carriers and supervisors and even managers are Democrat; they will get those ballets delivered come heck or high water.
 
COVID issues are impacting most companies supply chains…It should not come as a surprise that COVID impacts the post office.
 
I wish the post office would just be allowed to die already. It’s outlived it’s usefulness with the efficiency of private companies. Never once has the post office delivered a package to me on time.
 
They’ve called it snail mail for as long as I remember.

I support the USPS whenever I can.

Their prices are more reasonable than UPS or FEDEX. I send a lot of packages.
 
By my best estimates, they will be delivered to Voting Headquarters in time for the next president to be determined 😁.
 
I’m sorry to hear that. Most of the people I speak with are getting their packages a few days before they thought they would get them. Overseas packages are trickier though; they sometimes get hung up in customs and even at our distribution centers. Hopefully, we’ll start giving you better service with your packages.

My wife has relatives living on the other side of the world. A package mailed to them can take a week or more to arrive. You can’t hardly blame that on the USPS. Once the package leaves the U.S. it’s out of their control.

My wife recently sent some time-sensitive documents to her family on the other side of the world. Either FEDEX or UPS…I forget which. It got there in just a few days, but it cost about $75.00. For an envelope that weighed maybe 2 ounces.

I’m not sure of your age but I routinely get packages delivered on time via USPS. ??
 
To be fair the USPS has some powerful databases, such as Change of Address and Delivery Sequence Files. They deliver to the most remote places, which is impressive given that many addresses aren’t marked.
 
The US Postal Service was once very efficient, but in recent times they have declined, just like every other institution.

They are indeed. It is a known new policy that postal workers were told to stop using overtime to finish out the day, but to leave mail behind for the next day if it cannot be delivered in their normal shift. That is what the new hand-picked by Trump postmaster has ordered to cut costs to the Postal Service, forgetting that it is the United States Postal Service, not the U S Postal Business.

How does the military service do it?
 
The military isn’t a service industry. It’s the armed forces of a sovereign nation who’s mission is defense of the nation and the instrument of force used when diplomatic and political options fail to achieve the desired the outcomes.

The post office is an inefficient consumer service who’s been outclassed repeatedly by private endeavors, and only continues to exist due to a legislated monopoly on carrying letters.

If you’re proposing it should be propped up by tax dollars when it fails to generate revenue, then why should people who don’t send mail be forced to subsidize those who do?
