It was a line from the debate. Apparently, you missed it. Did you watch the debate?
Yes, but my question was about new GOP strategies, not new GOP one liners for describing “big government”, so I was confused as to why you answered my question this way.

:rotfl:

Look at deeds, not words.
Exactly. Everytime Obama talked about what he intends to do, I couldn’t help but think “you’ve been president for 4 years…why didn’t you already do it?” There is no reason to re-elect a failure. In fact, it is a foolish idea.

Obama spoke more in the first few rounds, but Romney more often insisted on having the last word when he wasn’t entitled to the extra turn. That sort of bully behavior is not a trait I admire in politicians. .
All debate rules give speakers equal time on a subject. Are you saying that one speaker should get two chances to speak and the other only one? Ridiculous! Romney rightly asked for his turn to address a topic with equal time. Because Obama spoke over, the moderator was trying to make up time by cutting Romney short, Romney wasn’t so foolish to let that happen.

It still cost $100 Billion dollars - even with their help. This is an interesting article, thanks for the link. 🙂
You should read about Wernher von Braun. He was a part of Paperclip. His Saturn V booster was necessary for the Apollo program.

Romney made his case. Obama made his case. Romney trounced Obama in the debate. I was just giving you something new, a description, from the debate. I thought it countered the bogus “trickle down” charges of the Democrats very well. I could care less about your personal need to have found a “new GOP strategy.” A “new GOP strategy” wouldn’t change your mind in the least.

Insanity is doing the same action over and over and expecting different results; given this, I think it is safe to assume Liberalism is a Mental Disorder. 👍

Gather round while I sing you of Wernher von Braun,
A man whose allegiance
Is ruled by expedience.
Call him a Nazi, he won’t even frown.
“Ha, Nazi Schmazi,” says Wernher von Braun.

Don’t say that he’s hypocritical,
Say rather that he’s apolitical.

“Once the rockets are up, who cares where they come down?
That’s not my department,” says Wernher von Braun.

Some have harsh words for this man of renown,
But some think our attitude
Should be one of gratitude,
Like the widows and cripples in old London town
Who owe their large pensions to Wernher von Braun.

You too may be a big hero,
Once you’ve learned to count backwards to zero.
“In German oder English I know how to count down,
Und I’m learning Chinese,” says Wernher von Braun.

Obama has said a lot of things. Unfortunately, his actions aren’t backed up by what he says. His “fair” tax idea has a revenue increase of a measly $48 billion over 10 years, while the 2013 budget he proposed has $7 TRILLION in spending increases (not new spending, just increases to currently funded projects) over the same 10 years.

I’m not sure a 0.07% revenue increase against proposed spending increases is any type of “balanced” approach.

WaPo checking the Obama figures:

I have heard that the Obama tax increases won’t be enough to make a huge difference. My belief is that Obama is willing to cut quite a bit more if he can get the GOP to agree to let he Bush tax cuts expire. This way, the painful cuts will be psychologically more palatable to those who will suffer because of them. People call Obama divisive, but I think this is his way of making the painful process seem more fair to the poor & middle class by asking the wealthy to contribute something more as well. Otherwise, we may very well have real class warfare on our hands.

I also don’t think the tax increases will cripple the economy. People aren’t going to stop investing and making money just because their profit margin has been reduced a little bit. If there is demand - there will be investment.

He has constantly said, even last evening, that he is going to repeal Obama Care.

But the one time he was pressed by I believe David Gregory, he said he wouldn’t repeal it, but replace it. Pressed further, he was actually saying he would modify it, keeping what he thinks is good, and getting rid of what he thinks is bad.

If he gives the nation a version of Romney Care, 98% will remain Obama Care.

Jim
Romney said that healthcare shoud be handled by the states and not the federal government, and he would not have the (death) board who decides who doesn’t qualify for medicine - who is worthy to live. He mentioned several other differences also. One was about how both parties should agree on something so important instead of passing something without one vote from the other side. (Too bad he didn’t mention that it passed before it was written.)

I noted all that too. I’d say Romney due to his articulateness (for once), fluidity of speech and instant recollection of facts and figures that he was ‘chemically’ helped, possibly with an amphetamine or whatever, as is used by some college kids to get through their exams with flying colours due to cognative enhancement. Obama has 16 years on him, but looked much older and slower, his feet were like concrete blocks when he walked across at the end to shake hands with Romney.
Why do you insist on spreading this totally imaginary theory? Very bad to besmirge someone’s character with nothing but imagination. but I guess Obama did so badly, only imaginary excuses exist.

I disagree. With the high unemployment, fuel prices, catatonic growth, there are very few who suggest a tax increase. Even former President Clinton up until last fall said the economy hadn’t recovered enough to increase taxes, and IMHO, it hasn’t done much better since.

Obama refused to go on the attack.
So what was that line about not denouncing certain Republicans? Or about how the democrats in MA should teach the Republican congress to vote for Obamacare. Pretty nasty.

Their messiah has no divinity and their hearts are hardening and their minds closing further. 👍

Time to call out the reserves:

Top Obama aide says performing in debates is ‘not the President’s strong suit’ and asks for media’s help against Mitt Romney

Doesn’t surprise me, I’ve been saying. Expect the moderators to cut Romney off and give Obama even more time…along with teeball questions for Obama and demonizing questions for Romney.

Obama will be different in the next rounds as well.
He will look at Romney.
He will grin a lot.
He won’t look down all the time, he’ll do his “chin in the air” thing.
He’ll blow out a ton of sound byte assertions, mostly bogus, that Romney won’t have time to answer.
He’ll have at least one really nasty remark in each debate, to bolster his faithful.
He’ll run against George Bush more than he did in this debate.

He’ll be different. Mark my words. Never, ever underestimate a chameleon’s ability to change color.

It was a good line, maybe not memorable but when Romney was talking about “truth” and said that about having “five sons who are always saying things” and the President smiled at that. I felt a bit for Obama, I’d like to like him personally but unfortunately do feel he has some extremist views on some subjects.
