US should return stolen land to Indian tribes, says United Nations

Apples and Oranges argument.
Germany paid back to the people it had wronged.
There is no one left that the US had wronged during these treaty violations.

And it will remove people from their land should the US attempt this.
 
Don’t know if this point has been made already, but isn’t the UN’s property located on stolen land?

Are you saying there are no Native Americans in the USA? Because there are tons, though we ignore them.

There are a lot of open areas that should be returned to the people who suffered genocide. Also, the details haven’t been proposed yet, so why are you claiming otherwise. Read the article. Work for justice.

You’re right. Eminent Domain is used by the EPA frequently with disastrous results to people who, for example, may have started building their dream home or retirement home. Just declare part of the property a wetlands, and they can kick you off.

No, I am saying that there is no one alive that actually had land taken from them when these treaties were broken.

The original owners are gone. There is no justice in attempting to give land back to people that never owned it to begin with.

Glad you brought that up. Actually if they had invested that $24 in some 6% Dutch bonds at the time and reinvested later, it would have been worth a lots of billions today. I had a finance teacher who loved to tell that story.
 
Please oh please let’s begin this by quickly returning the land the UN is on to the meanest “tribe” we can find - then help that tribe to try and prosecute the “trespassers” from “other countries”. After ALL they are “still stealing” the land.

And if ancient claims are the best, why isn’t the UN telling everyone ELSE in Israel/Palestine to “return stolen land” to the Jews? After all if “Dakota” and “Minnesota” are Indian names for those areas - “Bethlehem” and “Nazareth” and “Jerusalem” are the Jewish names for those ancient cities.

The UN just does stuff like this to grab headlines and pretend they matter.

I don’t think they give a doodly darn about justice or our Indian tribes.

LOL. How 'bout we get some “proudly American” native Americans to insist on seats in the UN - as if they are nations (like the USSR used to do with areas of Russia) - and pad the US presence in the General Assembly.

Even if the Dutch DID PAY for Manhattan Island - $24 (guilders?) worth of beads was a STEAL! My post is further back.

AND BTW, the UN hasn’t given those Indian “nations” a single seat! Just suppose they did - and that the tribes, (who are all American citizens now aren’t they?) backed UP the US in the General Assembly votes?

The Tower of Babel would shake to its roots.
