US Soccer Star SSM Story

I assume some CAF members saw this story highlighted on Yahoo news today.

This is the secular media that we are up against promoting the SSM lifestyle. Unfortunately, many young females who watched the soccer game yesterday and are following the U.S. team’s victory on the internet have observed this endorsement of SSM by Yahoo.

By the way, Yahoo is the number 1 news site for internet hits followed by google and the Huffington Post. Top internet news sites:

Yes, I strongly disapprove of Wambach’s actions, I’m also sorry that in total, the WNT, Women’s National Team has 3 persons that seem to be classified as “lesbians”, Ali Krieger and Megan Rappinoe. My preliminary feelings are I disapprove, I don’t mean to be judgmental.

Fortunately, I think some of the other gals on the team are ones I can be a fan of like Tobin Heath.

The US’s big star did seem to be Carli Lloyd, who’s fiance, a male they showed on TV.

Believe it or not, I think they are reporting the women’s coach also is a lesbian, that’s quite a lot for one team.

And they just won the World Cup. Are you saying that we should have turned away some of the members of the World Cup winning team over their sexuality?

Of course not, I say I disapprove of their personal choices; they are role models and thankfully, we have some positive role models on that team like Tobin Heath, Alex Murphy and Carli Lloyd.

I think what is really cool is that you can click on the link and read the story or not.

Role models like football players…basketball players…singers…actors…reporters…preachers…priests…rabbi’s…teachers…coaches… .doctors…lawyers…policeman. …mothers…fathers…

Didn’t give it a second thought. They won…that’s great!! Women’s sports don’t get the kudos they deserve nor the recognition and support compared to the men.

That’s what I’m concerned about – role models for young females in our society with Yahoo endorsing the SSM lifestyle. Perhaps I’m wrong, but the only counter offense to this secular journalist among our youth is EWTN’s Life on The Rock which does promote Catholic values for our youth. Obviously, they don’t have the large audience Yahoo and the other secular internet sites seem to have.

I am pretty sure the way to get on that team is to play soccer really, really, well. It is possible to be a fan of a player but not be a fan of the lifestyle. I actually had no idea which (if any) were lesbians.
 
If you look at the players’ bios, there are several who note their strong Christian beliefs.

Frankly, we watched the whole thing at home, and I doubt my kids noticed anything. If I were to have asked them what they saw, they would have undoubtedly described seeing happy people hugging and kissing, not “Abby Wambach kissing her lesbian partner.”

My daughters are very much involved in athletics, and one in particular has been playing soccer for most of her life. I don’t think she looks at the players as role models–in some respects, and I hate to say this–today’s young people are almost too sophisticated to see role models as role models. I think kids are very good at compartmentalizing the people they look up to. Aside from that, if my kids were to see member of the USWNT as a role model, it would definitely be one of the moms. In their eyes, mom + professional athlete = heroine.

Women’s soccer may not just be as popular as men’s sports. That said, people buy jerseys of sports figures, they are popular, probably more than they have been in the past.

No doubt about the sports jerseys. But I don’t think the athlete’s persona is held as highly as it used to be. Remember when Honus Wagner quit doing baseball cards because they advertized cigarettes? Times have changed since people “looked-up” to superstars.
 
The negative comments regarding Abby Wambach are disappointing. The US team won the World Cup, and Wambach wanted to celebrate by embracing the person who means the most to her in the world. I cannot comprehend the mindset of those who find fault with this spontaneous expression of happiness.
 
It is a real conundrum, say Russel Wilson who surely is looked up to by many has come out and said he will remain chaste/celibate until he marries his girlfriend. Commendable.

Then, how about Wambach, she is “married”. Thus, this is suppose to mean being faithful.

So, really, I don’t want to be judgmental. We will see.
 
Y! “News” has lost all credibility. They have become nothing more than a practicing homosexual sounding board and a link-fest for far-left blogs frequently fact-checked and refuted by other parties that quite frankly devastate their stances.

Would you be saying that if we were criticizing a straight, divorced couple?

And what comments SPECIFICALLY are negative. It’s poor conservation to paint a broad brush with no examples.

Homosexual displays are wrong regardless of the circumstances, and Catholics in at least one diocese who support so-called gay “marriage” have been asked to refrain from Communion.

A person cannot serve two masters, and that includes especially gay rights activists who put their friends or even family before God.
 
What if the celebration had been a male soccer star who had two wives and such a union was legal. If one frowned on that, would we be saying “We can’t begrudge him for merely celebrating with the ones he loves”.
 
Yahoo caters to the dregs – whatever works as clickbait. I constantly see their ‘trending’ news on computers at work, and it’s usually celebrity gossip or trash like that.

The article in the original post is by an apparent Yahoo writer but I think they also run stories from the main news services such as AP or Reuters, I know they run AFP who usually are okay though they do have a bias in some Middle Eastern matters which is apparent and that is stating it mildly, I think they actually got caught running a largely erroneous negative story on Israel once.
 
Guess I missed this because I’m not a sports fan, although I’m glad the women’s soccer team won. This is so commonplace now to make sure we know which sports person is in a SSM relationship or just gay. Same for Holywood people, like we really want or need to know this. Wonder though how they would have treated one of these women if they’d made the sign of the cross or mentioned casually they approve of traditional marriage! Guess they’d be ridiculed like Tim Tebow, and we’d all be told how unsportsmanlike like they are and have their personal life sensationalized especially if they slipped up.
