Since it is once again Labor Day here in the U.S., I thought I would post the bishops’ statement for 2017. I know our labor unions continue to be in decline in many places, and several CAF posters are always quick to point out that organized labor is no longer relevant or needed (a notion about which I strongly disagree), so I am heartened to read the encouraging and challenging words of Pope Francis:
"There is no good society without a good union, and there is no good union that is not reborn every day in the peripheries, that does not transform the discarded stones of the economy into its cornerstones."
Happy Labor Day!
