Chipper,

It helps to recall that even among the original Apostles, many abandoned Christ for a time, and one fell away entirely. Sections of the Church have fallen into dis-repair in the past and will probably do so in the future.

The deposit of the faith remains forever secure, however šŸ™‚

I really think we’re throwing the baby out with the bathwater here. We have all of this anger over what was really just an oversight. In spite of ACORN’s bad reputation, they have helped people. The CCHD has done a lot of good for a lot of people, but the vitriolic anger here seems to be coming from somewhere far deeper than just an oversight on the part of the agency.

If the Bishops say changes are being made, I’m sure they are, and protocols will be put into place to prevent these things from happening again. Of course, you can give your money to whomever you want, but I imagine that a lot of fair-minded people will see the good that is being done by CCHD and forgive them and continue to help them help advance state of those in need.

Credoinunum,

This isn’t just about ACORN. The CCHD was funding blatantly pro-abortion groups. Also, the USCCB has never said that they were going to reform the grants process. Instead they stated that these grantees became pro-abortion after they were initially funded, which has been proven to be false.

Check the following links:

I’m confused. What happened here? Can someone give me the Reader’s Digest version?

People have a right to choose what organization they give their money to. There are a fair few people out there who think that CCHD is doing a fine job. Like the bishop in the previous post, I question the veracity of the Bellermine Veritas Mission’s findings. I’m certain that those in charge of the CCHD will take appropriate action in line with instructions from the USCCB.

If the BVM’s findings were false, why were several of the groups defunded? the BVM report used primarily quotes from the grantees own web pages. I don’t see how a voters guide supporting abortion is disputable.

read this new article that came out today: lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/oct/09102909.html

If the bishops take action, that would be praiseworthy, but thus far, no reform of the grants process has taken place.

I’m way past being angry and have turned it into action. That, along with a lot of prayer is what will turn things around. No one is perfect, least of all myself.

As I understand it, things were a lot worse in the 1530’s around the time of Luther’s rebellion.

God bless,
Mimi

If the Catholic church is guided by the Holy Spirit, then how is it that our Church in America manages to support all these ā€œPoliticalā€ groups that promote Abortion, Homosexual agenda, and Communist takeover of the U.S??? On top of that the majority of Catholics in this country supported/voted for this nightmare taking place. Can a church guided by the Holy Spirit really act like this?

ā€œBy their fruits you shall know themā€. From this biblical statement, things aren’t looking to good right now. The fruits of USCCB/CCHD have been National support of organizations seeking (successfully) to enforce abortion:, homosexual, and communist ideals on all of us.

We have Nuns working alongside Planned Parenthood, and in abortion clinics. We have a priest jailing abortion-protesting priests and nuns and getting re-elected to his presidency. And where is the USCCB’s voice in all of this? Yet another fruit, from the fruit of silence, this fruit just allows this stuff to expand and continue on, by their silence.

The USCCB comes out and tries to tell congress that Abortion in the bill is bad, but yet, while they say this, they continue to fund Pro-Abortion organizations.
Seems to me like the pillar of truth has chipped away, crumbled, and let the truth fall on the ground.

Where is the Pillar and Foundation of Truth in all this?
This is the very essence of the question which needs to be answered by none other than the Catholic hierarchy! I have struggled with this for months asking the Lord how can this be in view of the doctrine of indefectibility? With all the error that has continued for 45 years or longer and this blatant complicity with all manner of things anti-Catholic, something is very very wrong!

I have received an answer to the above question in the form of an article the Lord gave me from a most unexpected source. The author states that we are in a crisis with a loss of faith, but He reiterates that the Church will stand, even though, with our limited understanding, it may appear differently.

I was on my knees sobbing when I read the entire article (which actually, was a chapter in a book.) I have typed out an excerpt from it which I will be glad to e-mail to anyone who wishes to read it. Please PM me.

I cannot share your optimism and urge you to read other threads on this forum. There are many links which tell the truth. Bellermine Veritas is only one of several sources that have been warning us for years of the political activities of the USCCB which appears to have become nothing more than a champion for the cause of the far left.

Hi Tigg,

It sounds like you and I see eye to eye on this matter.

I began wondering about leaving the Catholic Church. But then the same question kept coming up over and over. ā€œTo where shall I goā€??? I really didn’t have a any other to place to go. No Protestant churches to go to, no Hindu, no Buddha not Islam, I have studied these various religions over the years, and the only place I found the Truth was in the Catholic Church. So I asked over and over to God, "To where shall I go?

So I prayed and prayed too! Then it came to me. Go back a couple thousand years.
Would I leave Jesus and the Apostles because of Judas??? NO, not, nien.
Jesus even said ā€œhave I not chosen you, and yet one of you is a devil?.ā€

This was the zinger for me. It seems to me that Judas has infiltrated the Church as of late. Judas was in charge of the ā€œpurseā€ two thousand years ago, and once again Judas is in charge of the ā€œpurseā€ today. Yes, the Church has been infiltrated, but, I won’t give up Jesus and the Apostles because of Judas.

I think the Holy Spirit is ā€œExposingā€ and bringing to the light, the evil and corruption in our Church nowadays - in effect, he is cleaning house.

By the way, I would appreciate it if you would post your article, which helped you on this matter.

As I am learning in The Great Adventure Bible Study, (just finished Exodus), it was Moses’ own brother and right-hand man, Aaron who MADE THE GOLDEN CALF and allowed the people to revert to idol worship while Moses was communing with God on the mountain! And he was still allowed to be a Levitical high priest! They did suffer a plague bc of it, though.

There will always be leaders who do not live or lead the way they ā€˜should’.

I hope you all will find encouragement from this quote by Fulton Sheen:
ā€œWho is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops, like bishops, and your religious act like religious.ā€

I believe the state of our Church has been prophesied by Our Holy Mother, and although we are not required to believe in private revelation, we are also told in Scripture, ā€œdo not stifle the Spirit, do not despise prophecy. I Thess. 5:19ā€
The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, and bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their Confreres. The Church and altars will be vandalized. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
The Church has approved this apparition from Our Lady of Akita:

Forgot to add this above…

Take heart, everyone, for although things look bad now and we will suffer for a short while, if we stay faithful, we know how this will all turn out! The Immaculate Heart of Mary WILL triumph! So just offer up your frustrations and sickness of heart over what is happening and pray for the bishops that their consciences might be illuminated and that they will return to the Narrow Way.

Which prophesy by Our Holy Mother do you refer to here?
