Recently, I’ve been trying to pray the LotH correctly, and so I’ve found some interesting websites in this endeavor. These excellent people have made the LotH significantly more user-friendly. 😃

isi.edu/~chiang/personal/hours.html (computer science professor gives a pretty clear overview of how its done)

universalis.com/readings.htm (yet another computer science professor’s approach to the LotH–what I love about this site is that it can calculate the date, readings, psalms, &c. for you, generating a page with the relevant passages)

catholicliturgy.com/index.cfm (some interesting articles on here regarding the liturgy–I can’t speak for the overall quality, as I’ve only just found it)

Sorry if any of these were posted before!

Are there any good sites that give the music for the hymns?
I’ve been doing LOTH from the books.

I wouldn’t reccemend universalis, because they use a translation that is different than the official one. You can see this right away with “God come to my aid”.

I would use divine office.

Good eye. I noticed that, but I didn’t know if it was that important. :-\

[although I agree that it probably is!]

While as laity, we can really use whatever we want, because there is no obligation to pray LOTH. This means that priest and deacons should not (can not?) use universalis to fulfill their obligation. But as lay people, if we have a correct translation available to us (divineoffice.org), why not use it?

Although we have no obligation to pray it, if we use an unofficial version it really isn’t liturgy of the hours, just a private devotion. The GILH does highly recommend the praying of the LOTH by laypeople. When we pray it correctly, as liturgy, we are attaching our prayer to that of the greater Church, speaking with one voice to God. So while private devotion is commendable, why not go the extra step and pray the LOTH in unity with the entire Church?

Well said.
Do not forget this site, developed by Lazlo:

divinumofficium.com/cgi-bin/horas/officium.pl

Great site!
It appears that this is the 1962 version of the breviary. Cool!

Divine office .org is exactly the same as the LOH books & also has an app for iPhone touch or you can listen online. As I have tried to learn the LOH it has been very helpful:thumbsup:
