So was it a valid absolution?
After one has actually confessed the mortal sins that were forgotten (since they were remembered)- put it in the past.a few decades long confession, but thought a few old ones should be mentioned next confession a couple of weeks later was:
“He had already absolved me of every one of those old sins, so put it in the past.”
As someone who battles with scrupulously I can tell you that your best bet is to speak to a priest in person about your issues, but the formula of absolution that you mentioned is valid. Two of the posters who answered you here are in fact priests and they also confirmed this. You’re good to go.So was it a valid absolution?![]()
It is valid since you only need to confess those that you remember. If you remember another one later tell it so you can receive any council and penance for it.A few days ago I went to confession and confessed many serious mortal sins. The confession lasted over thirty minutes. Instead of the normal absolution the priest only said " I absolve you of all the sins of your life in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" I don’t know whether this was valid as he said “all the sins of your life”.I also forgot to confess several mortal sins which I only remember now. I can’t quite remember but he may have even said " every one of the sins of your life" Please help
