My favorite album was the first one. I saw them twice right after it came out. Once opening for Ted Nugent and once opening for Black Sabbath. Both were “general admission” shows.

Although my favorite album has Roth on it I MUCH prefer Sammy. The first album is the only one with Roth that does not sound like the majority of the vocals were written by a 13-year-old with over active glands.

The guitar solo in ‘Beat It’ was rated 65th best guitar solo ever. Some favor ay!

Hmm Eddie is Catholic and their new singer is a pro-lifer… maybe we’ll see some good influence coming out of this band.

Van Halen rocks - and btw I like both Sammy and Roth.

Right now they don’t have a lead singer.

That was Gary Cherone (Van Halen 3) who is no longer part of the band. When I saw them in concert, he said some pretty cool stuff. I was impressed.

If you go to Van Halen’s website, they show Sammy Hagar right now. And if he has any “pro” platform it’s pro-tequila. 😉

Just for you Dandelione_Wine!!

Best song on the album has got to be Hot For Teacher.
nah the best song has to be Jump, and classic van halen rock/pop song. Hot for Teacher is also very good along with Panana…

I"VE GOT IT BAD GOT IT BAD, I’M HOT FOR TEACHER… ( and eddie van halen rocks on guitar!!!)

Eddie Van Halen is the reason I started playing guitar back in the day. He’s the man! I wanted to get him to play at my ordination but it just never happened. 😛

I always felt that an electric guitar playing through a wall of Marshall’s sounds a bit like a pipe organ at full throttle! Yeah!!! 👍
'Specially the way he plays eruption, man when I first heard that solo it was so cool, and its crazy when he plays it on stage…

I love the Halen, but it would be dangerous to play this drinking game:

Put on a Van Halen album and drink everytime the lyric line is a cliche.

Try Fair Warning and the first track:

It’s always here-and-now my friend
It ain’t once-upon-a-time
It’s all over but the shouting
I’ll come and take what’s mine

You would be :whacky: after that song.

I love Van Halen with Sammy. My husband likes both versions of Van Halen. His favorite song is Jump from 1984, but does not think this album was their best. However out of the 1984 album my favorite song is Panama.
