I go in Tuesday, 22 January, to have the fistula put in my arm to make an access for going on dialysis. It’s done on an out-patient basis.

I don’t know when dialysis will start, as my nephroplogist told me Friday that my condition has stabilized.

Blessed Lord of creation, out of love You conceived of Basil from all eternity as part of Your Divine plan. In Your mercy, You have found him worthy of Your Kingdom. May he offer his suffering and anxiety to You as a penance which will serve to purify his spirit. Accompany him during his surgery, O loving Lord, and grant that he recover in the peace of Christ, joyously thanking and praising Your Holy Name for Your Goodness. Graciously guide the hearts, minds and hands of the doctors, nurses, and technicians who will care for him in the day to come, that they may see the face of Christ in him, and he in them. I ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
