ROME — Drug pushers, the obscenely rich, environmental polluters and “manipulative” genetic scientists beware — you may be in danger of losing your mortal soul unless you repent.

What is the basis for these decisions? Are they based on the pope’s authority? Or are they based on Scripture?

I understand cause and effect such a drug pushers may do in harming the little one and Jesus saying you would be better off placing a yoke around your neck

As far as genetic scientists and some of their agenda an apologist Mark Shea wrote.

Shouldn’t we then begin a process of USDA-approved sterilization and preparation at every hospital in America so that every patient is certifiably “healthy” whether he lives or dies? Shouldn’t we set up a system of processing, refrigerated transport, and supermarket distribution so that, in the words of Dr. Elders, every fetus remains a “wanted fetus”?

Shouldn’t we become the first nation in the world to import this valuable resource from developing nations and so, in the words of Dickens and the Cairo Conference, “help decrease the surplus population”?

Imagine the potential for private industry and, of course, the correlative tax revenue with its potential for further social good! With a little finesse, many of our finest restaurants could undoubtedly persuade an initially reluctant public to relish this bold addition to the menu. Pet food manufacturers, fertilizer producers, upholsterers, lampshade manufacturers, and caterers stand waiting to benefit.

All it really requires is the final abandonment of the unconstitutional religious myth which irrationally insists on imposing the dogma of “spirituality” and “intrinsic value” on tissue. All it requires is the same sort of thinking that Drs. Elders and Kevorkian insist we apply to the human body in the case of fetal harvesting and clinical, harvestable suicide. All we need do is repeat after our TV, “It’s not sacred. It’s just reusable tissue. Harvest it.”

Jeffrey Dahmer, a truly mature man who could not be shocked, knew this. Perhaps someday soon we’ll know it too.

Do you really think that the harvesting and scientific research on Fetal Stem Cells we are far from this?

For I knew you when you were forming in the womb. Who said that?

Why a Down Syndrome baby in the womb many abortionist say should be aborted for they have no worth.

Why in the future what use will the elderly have for the secular society does not give them worth but states they atre a burden on society. Are we far from this?

For itis easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven,

Who said that?

how can you tell when the rich begins to classify as ‘filthy rich’?

Are these really *new *mortal sins? I always thought that they were mortal sins.

Yes, but Dahmer repented of his sins in prison, and he apologized over and over again. Given this, do you think was still condemned as he would have been prior to his confession?

How can we know? That is for God to judge

I do not know if he was condemned that is not for me but the Lord to decide.

I don’t see how what that article says adds up to “Vatican adds 7 new mortal sins.”

I was referring to the notion that if he had not repented and sought forgiveness. Would you agree that ny person in that state might be in a little trouble?

The Herald Tribune / Europe does not speak for the Catholic Church as was shown and proven with their story on Martin Luther.
Did you not read the part about Vatican officials contributing to the article? Did you fail to read the part about it being posted in the Vatican newspaper?

What you listed has always been sinful there isn’t any “adding these as sins” all of them fit within the 7 original deadly sins.

People like to see the original source and this helps them continue to discuss or at least know that the article from another source is good.

What I read was these are not new sins but are sins increasing as we become a socity of death and steer away from a society of life.

These sins have always been Mortal Sins we just devise different ways to committ them

Excellent point. I will research to see if I can find it in the Vatican’s newspaper. And just for clarification, I only wanted to know out of genuine curiosity. No harm intended.

I agree. On Yahoo page, they have “new sins” in double quotes. I haven’t read any further on this; therefore, I don’t know what to discuss next at this point. 🙂

how is being filthy rich sinful, much less a mortal one?

lets look at Bill Gates for example. why should he go to hell?

*ROME, Italy (AP) – A Vatican official has listed drugs, pollution and genetic manipulations as well as social and economic injustices as new areas of sinful behavior.

Monsignor Gianfranco Girotti said in an interview published on Sunday by the Vatican’s daily newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, that known sins increasingly manifest themselves as behavior that damages society as a whole.*

How on earth does genetic manipulations damages society as a whole?

Is this teaching Ex-cathedra?
