I think this is a personal mental health issue that was made embarrassingly public. I wish her the best.

Because P**** Riot are not an affiliate of FEMEN. One time they condemned an action of a FEMEN member who chainsawed a statue of Christ in Ukraine.

Even P**** Riot sees them as useless.
Thats not exactly a repudiation. All they are saying is that they disagree with FEMEN’s stupid tactics like nudity and outright vandalism. They probably agree with FEMEN on a lot of things like the church and men its just that they just don’t work for attention craving idiots that make them do those things and unlike FEMEN they don’t have the money to travel as well outside of Russia.

In any case FEMEN had a lot of fans here when they confronted Putin during voting and when he was in Germany.

I have to say that breasts are not sex organs. They are literally masses of fat designed to feed babies. The media has sensationalized breasts and treating them as taboo has MADE them into sex objects. If it isn’t appropriate for a woman to walk around without a shirt then men shouldn’t either. The double standard is frankly sexist. That said it wouldn’t be appropriate for a man to walk around St. Peter’s without a shirt and I don’t understand what the group is even protesting, if the group were a company and the protest an advertisement then it would be a colossal failure.
Women and men have different body parts and so different things are inappropriate to show. Men and women are biologically different.

A man wearing a speedo with a swim shirt on is more inappropriate than a woman wearing a swim top with a bottom piece.

Exposing body parts that women know will tempt men like that is wrong.

This never used to happen, and now it’s a regular occurrence. I have no doubt that it’s one of the many signs that the Antichrist is in the world.

It seems a coincidence that this incident occurred around the time of the feast of St. Stephen (during or after). Let us pray for those who persecute us.

I am just wondering why femens attack during Christmas. Remember Christmas 2009.

I agree that in society there are certainly different standards.
Your analogy with the swim attire breaks down based on context. I would find neither inappropriate at pool-side, lake, river, beach, etc… where one would go swimming. I might not find such attire appropriate for attending a wedding - based upon the social norms that I have grown-up with in my life.

With that said, I’m no male-animal that upon exposure to a female’s reproductive parts must succumb to some animalistic urge to lust… I’m not a Baboon-Male viewing an engorged Baboon-Female-backside.

As I said in my earlier post, it is only the evil-one’s influence, as a result of the original sin, that we find any part of the human body to be offensive at any time. IMHO, if someone wanted to walk down the middle of one of the major cities I live in during the middle of winter naked, I’d ask them only if they’ve lost their mind (it’s well below freezing) and second if I was store owner they’d need to put a liner on the seat for hygiene reasons. Otherwise, who cares? God gave us these bodies and there isn’t anything wrong or evil about them in any way shape or form and the devil delights in misleading us to think otherwise and the press plays right into his hands by making this something more that it is… a bunch of sophomoric antics by a marginal group.

you sure know your Baboons!!😃
Too many evenings with grandpa/ma - the evening TV was the grand ole opry, Hee-Haw, evening news, and depending on the evening either the magical world of Disney or Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom… unless there was bad weather the TV was turned off during the rest of the day 😃

Thanks for keeping us abreast of this titillating topic. The naked truth must be exposed: her actions were udderly inappropriate!
Yes. AND … now even the radical left must admit how bra’d minded the Vatican can BE!

:blushing:

Feminism is extremism.

Funny how these femen women hate men but give some men what they love – breasts.

They achieve nothing.
Saying that feminism is extremism and that FEMEN is anti-men is jumping hastily to conclusions. A little bit of charity is never out of order.

I have to agree. There are many forms of feminism, just like how there are many forms of socialism, liberalism, conservatism, etc. It is an ideology and ideologies are fluid. There is a tendency for people to overgeneralize an ideology.

One of the core principles of feminism is the equal dignified treatment of women.

Dictionary definition of feminism:
: the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities
: organized activity in support of women’s rights and interests
merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feminism

The Catholic Church also has a doctrine concerning how women are of equal dignity with men - while acknowledging their differences:
369 Man and woman have been created, which is to say, willed by God: on the one hand, in perfect equality as human persons; on the other, in their respective beings as man and woman.
Having perfect equality means having equal rights in most areas of life. I say most because there are some areas of life that are supposed to be specialized for only one particular sex (i.e., the priesthood)

Early feminists like Mary Wollstonecraft in the 19th century, and later on the campaigners for women’s suffrage during the early 20th century, were only concerned by the equal dignified treatment of women and women’s rights concerning voting, education, equal pay, etc. This is first-wave feminism.

The “man-hating”, shall I say, stereotype, only emerged from a second wave which has its foundation on Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist writings on “women’s liberation” wherein femininity in de Beauvoir’s words is a creation of the patriarchy and not of God. This leads to what we mostly associate with feminism and feminists these days: man-haters, promoters of abortion, promoters of women’s ordination, etc.

There are such things as moderate feminists, who only want to subscribe to first-wave feminism. In fact, there is a pro-life group who calls itself feminist: feministsforlife.org/. Most radical feminists like FEMEN subscribe to second-wave feminism.

I’m not promoting feminism here. I’m just saying maybe we shouldn’t make generalized assumptions about feminists and feminism if we just research more about its history, just as how people shouldn’t make generalized assumptions about the Catholic Church if they just do their research. If we want to evangelize to feminists maybe we should research about them first or ask them before we do so.

True.

It is like saying that those who oppose the concept of women priests all want to chain women to the kitchen.

Maybe we can milk some meaning from this incident and see how morality also sags without support.
