If the UN committee insists that the Church change its teaching on abortion, the Church should insist that the UN reject the torture of unborn children by slicing them up alive.
Sad. I think the UN has done some great work internationally to bring peace and justice to many parts of the world. But when it tries to violate the rights of religion by imposing a secular worldview on the Church, it oversteps its bounds.
It strikes me that, more and more, we are entering an age where respect for religious institutions from secularists is on the decline. Maybe it’s always been this way, but it just feels more and more that the Church is no longer viewed as a source of goodness and wisdom.
Maybe that’s partially our fault, as well. Something to meditate and pray about, I suppose.
Once again, I recommend the movie “U.N.Me” for some information on the UN’s egregious failures. One has to realize that a great many of the UN ‘diplomats’ based in New York City are simply prior local thugs given diplomatic status. And most of the NGO’s are simply composed of leftist ideologues with undue power because of their association with the UN.
