There are many similarites, the liturgy being one of them. I attended a memorial for my niece there a couple of years ago and it was very much like a Catholic Mass and most reverent.There is probably a desire to highlight some more similarities and differences besides justification, and to do so closer to the 500th year anniversary of Luther’s 95 Theses.
Yes, the liturgy is almost exactly the same. That surprised me too. Piece of cake for a Catholic. Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. I felt lost without the Holy Water, no candles or statues either. Also, they never kneel in the pews - they don’t have the little kneel bar, whatever it’s called (to me that smacked of pride).
They are good fellow Christians, no doubt. Around here, they are of Scandinavian descent (usually Norwegian); they once gave me this loaf of homemade bread (I volunteered at a Lutheran Parish Food Bank really close to me). It was fantastic bread. I had it for dinner with cheese.I’m still waiting for his all clear to make communion mandatory for everyone who steps into a church, it is medicine according to him after allHey, if the divorced and remarried get to take communion, why not the Lutherans.
